History/Quick backstory: Mari is the oldest of four children. Her family is from District 4, the district tied to fishing. Their father works as a fisherman and their works as a teacher. Mari has two younger brothers and one younger sister. Ever since she could, she's signed up for Tesserae. The added food helps feed the family. Growing up Mari wanted to study the marine life, helping out her community. But everything changes when her name is drawn for the Hunger Games. She is upset of course, but also relieved that none of her siblings were drawn. The male tribute was called as she started the long walk to the stage. She took her place on the stage, staring into the crowd. The tributes were taken into the mayor's house. Once she was in a room her family immediately rushed to join her. Tears were shed and hugs were given. She promised that she would win the games, even though she didn't have any experience. And eventually the two were taken away from their district to stay in the capital. After the opening ceremony the tributes were brought to their floor to meet their escorts as well as stylists for dinner. It was their mentor who proved helpful, informing them that they should spend the early days of training trying out different skills. Once the training days started, Marilyn was just trying everything. She discovered that the blades were definitely her thing. Anything from small daggers she could use to throw at enemies or slip in and attack sneakily to full sized swords. Eventually it was her mentor who suggested that she try dual wielding swords, giving her an advantage. She tried our dual wielding swords when she was fairly certain no one was paying much attention. She wanted the dual wielding to be the surprise for the judgment. And it was the right call because it earned her the score of 9. And then it was time for the interviews. Mari was nervous of course, but her stylist dressed her perfectly. She stepped on stage, determined to be herself and hopefully earn some sponsors without spoiling too much of her plan.
