Gladius POV

Even as I shut the door to the outside, the interior of the inn had a thin layer of fog emanating through the air. I couldn't fight the chill that went up my spine, unease building slowly the longer I spent in this creepy place.

Looking around, the inn itself was actually quite well off, better than the place where I'd encountered Hanged Man back in India. It was completely silent though, not a person in sight, aside from two directly in front of me.

I recognized both figures right away and I'll admit, they were among the last people I thought I'd meet in a place like this. Nevertheless, I stepped forward, speaking to one of them in a stern, cold manner. "Hol Horse."

The gunslinger's head snapped in my direction and straight away I saw a look of fear flash through his eyes as sweat appeared on his face. I guess he hadn't forgot that he stood me up in Calcutta.

Had we worked together, we could have possibly eliminated Kakyoin and Polnareff. However his act of cowardice had cost us that chance. While I wasn't livid at this, I was angered by the inconvenience he'd caused.

He stammered out "G-Gladius, fancy seeing you here... Uh... Sorry about last time. I-." I cut him off. "Enough! I'm not going to kill you, so save your grovelling." I continued to approach the pair, the other person addressed me.

"Gladius, you're here as well. Good." That would be the voice of ENYA! The very same hag who hired me in the first place on DIO's behalf! She was the last person I expected to see. I gave a bow, greeting the elder.

"Enya, I'll admit, I wasn't expecting to see you here." For a moment, Enya gave no reaction, she just looked between the two of us in complete silence. That's when tears began streaking down her cheeks, she let out a shrill scream before running into an adjacent room.

Me and Hol Horse shared a glance, he twirled his finger next to his temple, indicating he thought she was crazy. I just let out a faint "Hmm..." Nodding in agreement. Regardless of our thoughts on Enya, we followed after her.

Hol Horse called out "What's the matter Enya?! Why are you crying?" We found her hunched over a chair in the next room, crying her eyes out. She whimpered through her tears "I'm just happy Hol Horse, Gladius! It means so much that you're here! Thank you for coming to see this lonely old woman! It's so wonderful to see you both!"

This caught me off guard, this didn't seem like the Enya I met in Egypt weeks ago. She looked directly at Hol Horse as she asked "Hol Horse, you and my son were friends, were you not?" I could tell Hol Horse was as confused as me as he stammered out a reply.

"Friends? Oh, well I... Yes, we were thick as thieves." Enya asked "So, you were close?" To which Hol Horse answered "Close? Yeah, he was a dear friend and an excellent partner." I chose now to ask "What's going on here madam Enya? With all due respect, I didn't expect to see you here. And you seem a bit, off."

I hadn't forgotten the revelation that J.Geil was her son. So it makes sense that she'd be upset by his passing. However, I expected psychotic RAGE, not tears! Enya didn't answer my question though, instead she asked me herself.

"And what of you Gladius? You met my son J.Geil did you not? What did you think of him?" What could I say? That I despised J.Geil? That I would have killed him myself had Polnareff not done it? Instead, I told what little compliment I could give the fiend.

"I only met him briefly. But I know he was a skilled warrior." That was all, the only praise I'd give the likes of him. Though it seemed enough for Enya, looking away from us and hiding her face, she asked "Will you two avenge my son? Is that why you're here?"
