Gladius POV
I had a lot on my mind as I continued to travel, eventually arriving in the city of Karachi, Pakistan. I wasn't tailing the group anymore, however I had estimated that they'd take a bit of a stop here on their travels. I would wait for them while I tried to clear my head.
The whole encounter with Enya had remained on my mind. Never in my life had I been in a situation like that one. One where I was genuinely scared for my life. Had Jotaro not shown up, I don't know what would have happened.
It was Joestar's words that also lingered in my subconscious as well. His offer to join them played over and over. Should I have taken the offer? I kept asking myself that mentally as I found somewhere to park my car, getting out, I found a small bar isolated from prying eyes and went inside.
Taking a seat, I ordered the cheapest drink and proceeded to think. The offer, I mean, Enya had turned on me based on her own assumption. True, those assumptions were correct, but the fact that she'd leapt to them on nothing but speculation and had tried to have me killed...
NO! I held a grudge against Enya, but she was in the hands of the Joestar group now. I had to remember why I was in this assignment. It wasn't all about the money, true, I wanted that reward, for my son. However there was more to it.
Once more, I reached in to my pocket and pulled out my ancestor's diary. This whole situation reminded me of how I'd ended up in this situation, I was in a bar when Enya first approached me. Back then I'd contemplated why I became a mercenary in the first place.
The diary only came into play recently with this job. Before then it was about the money, every time I was paid, I sent most of it away to my son, Sylvester. He may only be an infant, his mother used the money to cover his upbringing. Of course now though, a new meaning had come about of equal importance.
"Well well, I was wondering if I'd be finding you here..."
A voice snapped me out of my thoughts, further drawing the parallels with my encounter with Enya. Turning around though, instead of meeting an elderly hag, I was now met with a man who looked about the same age as me.
I just raised an eyebrow, asking in an annoyed tone. "Is there something I can help you with sir?" The man gave a smirk and I knew instantly from the look in his red eyes that he was a Stand user. He gave a dramatic bow as he introduced. "Let's get introductions out of the way, my name is Steely Dan, a Stand user representing the one and only Lovers card."
Image of Steely Dan:
He took a step closer as I coldly introduced myself as well. "Gladius." The man known as Steely Dan just laughed "Oh I know who YOU are Gladius. As I said, I was curious as to whether I'd be running into you here."
Now the parallels with meeting Enya ended, instead of ordering me to follow, Steely Dan took up a seat on the stool next to me. I spat "And what do you want me for?" Steely Dan let out another laugh, this one much more obnoxious.
