(Before we begin, I wanted to mention that this chapter takes place shortly before the fight with Midler and her High Priestess Stand).
Gladius POV
I honestly thought that the next time I'd be in this situation, it would be to report my success in my assignment. And yet, here I was, outside the eerie mansion in Cairo without any completion to show. And I was about to confront DIO of all people!
Even though I'd only had one encounter with the guy, I knew he wasn't someone you wanted to report failure to. However, this was a risk I was willing to take! More-so I was determined to get answers from him. Joestar's explanation may have not given too much, but it made it clear that DIO likely knew at least something about my ancestor's cryptic diary entry.
I pushed the large doors open to, just like before, be met with darkness. I could vaguely memorise the route from Enya escorting me through the mansion last time. So I was able to make my way to where I knew DIO would likely be hiding.
As soon as the doors had closed behind me, I was plunged into almost complete darkness. I could barely see my surroundings. However within a few minutes, I found myself once again faced with the large set of double doors.
And just like before, the doors gave off an ominous, uncomfortable vibe. Sweat began trickling down my face as my discomfort began to increase. Again, there was something about DIO that just unnerved me. Even so, I swallowed my fear and began to make my way closer.
Once right in front of the door, I began to pick-out two voices in conversation. One of which I knew to be DIO, the other, while male, I didn't recognize at all. I couldn't really tell what was being said either, until DIO said something that nearly made my blood run cold.
"I do apologise, it seems we have an unexpected visitor. Come in, Gladius."
As soon as the order was given, I slowly pushed the door open to once again reveal the large, luxurious room. This time, I saw DIO right away, sat with his back to me, only vaguely illuminated by a fireplace next to him.
However this time, my focus wasn't on him. But the person opposite, a man, no, a boy. Perhaps around Jotaro's age. As soon as I entered the room, he looked up and stared into my soul with an unreadable expression.
DIO spoke up. "I believe introductions are in order. Gladius, I would like you to meet a good friend of mine, Enrico Pucci. Enrico, this is Gladius, a more recent subordinate of mine."
Image of Enrico Pucci:
My attention shifted to the boy known as 'Pucci' as he only hummed in acknowledgement quietly saying "I see". While he didn't give off the same vibes as DIO, there was still something about this guy that unnerved me.
DIO spoke to Pucci "It seems we will have to reconvene later. I have some, other, business to attend to as you can see." Pucci rose to his feet, politely saying "Very well, we can resume this discussion at the time of our next meeting."
