I opened my eyes and I felt very sore, I could easily say that I had some broken ribs and I still had dried blood all over my face, I didn't remember what had happened or where I was, I just felt great pain all over my body and a great worry in my chest. I walked out of the barn with what little willpower I still had and leaned against one of the walls, the further I walked towards the exit and the further the exit became, the colder and brighter everything became. I hastened my pace to be able to arrive and that was how little by little the flashing light consumed me completely until it transported me to a very white and silent place. I was still leaning against the wall with dirt all over my body, some people passed by me without seeming to notice me, they looked like doctors or nurses. I continued walking down the long corridor where a huge white door seemed to be waiting for me, the light that stood out kept attracting me with the same need to have to reach it. The bright white light hurt my eyes making everything more diffuse and unrecognizable, I placed a hand on my eyes to protect my eyes and little by little I began to recognize the familiar parts of that translucent place. People passed around me almost bumping into my immutable body as if it didn't really matter. I continued the step until I held the door knob tightly and advanced towards what seemed to attract me towards it, the light blinded me for a few seconds and in the middle of that empty place I could see his angel face focus on my presence, his face was clean, her body without a bruise and her face eager to see me.
She was sitting on her stretcher with that hospital gown that hospitalized patients used to wear, her arms reached out to me and I could feel as if she was flying. Her heart grew larger feeling the immensity of her warmth, of her love...
I couldn't help but smile with happiness knowing that everything had been worth it in the end, there would be no obstacles. I took small steps trying as much as I could to enjoy that little moment in my life, something that for small instances I doubt was possible given the circumstances. I stopped in front of her beautiful eyes that seemed to want to consume me with the intensity of her gaze, I took her by one of the cheeks and it was at that moment when I felt how the touch of our skins activated feelings and pleasures that at times of fear and terror had Forgot how they felt. My skin crawled, my pupils dilated, and my heart was pounding like it was ready to go out for a marathon. The delicious smell of vanilla filthy my nose and the sweet taste on the palate brought me memorable moments, she still smiled with her look on my face and then rested her little head on my chest. Take a deep breath feeling at peace, in complete harmony with myself and with the world. I wouldn't know what would happen after all this storm, but what I did know was that Amy would be with me for a long time.
Take her cheeks with both hands to be able to admire her a little more and with a very soft and distant voice she released.
—Wake up...
The words echoed inside me, fear gripped me and everything began to turn dark. I clung to her body, noticing how the shadows spread along the walls of the rooms, she just hugged me very tightly, covering her face with my chest so as not to despair. I squeezed my eyes shut to keep from panicking.
—¡Wake up!
I listened again, bouncing on the thin line of reality, I opened my eyes with a single blow, feeling that I was short of breath and with the world spinning around me. When my eyes defined what was in front of me, I could see that my face was resting on the hospital stretcher and my body was resting sitting on the passenger's seat.
When my vision cleared, I recognized the tender face of Anna, Amy's sister, and next to her a woman dressed in white with a hospital uniform that I didn't remember. I immediately shuddered raising my head to rectify what my mind was screaming at me, I looked everywhere and I was in an inpatient room. The stretcher was empty, but a lot of our stuff we'd brought to the cabin was in a corner of the room, so it wasn't too hard to figure out what was going on.
