Sitting before soundboard in his studio, Hoseok worked diligently, putting together beats for a new track. In his peripheral, he can see his phone lighting up, but he refused to answer.
He continued to work while ignoring the countless missed calls that were coming through to his phone.
As he connected the remaining beats, he placed his headphones over his ears and leaned back into his chair, replaying the bars he just wrote.
Closing his eyes, he attempted to calm his mind. If anything could bring him some sort of peace, it would be his music.
The sweet melody of the song he wrote allowed his thoughts to drift to a moment that always lingered in every crevice of his mind.
The moment he met her.
It was a day like any other for him; the same problems with no solutions or any of the ones he tried was never good enough. This particular day, he rode on the opposite side of town, where he didn't worry about running into a familiar face.
He stopped at a small cafe to grab a coffee and noticed a young lady staring out of the window as he walked toward the entrance. Hoseok approached the counter to place his order.
"A small coffee, please. Thanks." He told the waitress behind it.
He glanced over his shoulder and noticed the young lady remained staring out of the window. Curious heightened his interest as he observed a single tear glistening down her cheek.
Suddenly, he felt weak, and sympathy latched onto his wonder.
With no idea why she cried or knowing who she was for that mattered, he felt an odd connection and carried her pain as if it was his own. Hoseok wished many times he could express a small sentiment of crying to release the frustrations he held within, but it wasn't in him. The act of it has been blocked for many years, and he was unsure if he even knew how to.
Although he couldn't physically, his heart wept with her.
The waitress returned to the bar and handed him his coffee.
"On second thought, can I get a chocolate shake with two straws? Thanks."
The waitress rolled her glare but did as he wished.
Moments later, she handed him a large chocolate shake and two straws on opposite ends.
Hoseok nodded and left cash along with the coffee on the bar. Carefully, he took the shake while thinking confidently about this strange act he was about to perform. He reached her booth, but she continued looking out of the window, unaware that he was standing there.
The stream of tears was steady, falling from her eyes as she sat still-almost statue-like and detached from her surroundings.
He cleared his throat to gain her attention.
She doesn't move.
He frowned and repeated his action, but she remained to stare out the window.
Hoseok glanced around nervously before a deep sigh weaved through lips as he gathered the courage to sit at her booth opposite of her. This jolted her from her stare, and she locked eyes with the strange man in front of her.
Hoseok placed the shake in the middle of the table, smiling at her startled state. She gulped, eyes wandering between him and the shake before her stare grew still to him.
Her heart sped when her gaze fell to his smile. She silently admired his delicate features and friendly eyes. Meeting a gorgeous man was the last thing she needed today, but a beautiful man attempting a sweet and kind gesture to a stranger was alluring and demanded her attention.
