I woke up twenty minutes early compared to usual. Jeff finally cleared me to go running again yesterday, and lemme tell you that it's been a hard week not going out there everyday. I met Minho and Alby at the doors ready to go in. Albys coming with today because he wants to retrace Bens footsteps from when he got stung.
"Hey Min, Alby." I greeted the boys
"Hey Ree"
"Hi Rey" they spoke together.
"What do you think we are gonna find out there today?" I questioned
"Not sure. But if things are changing, try not to get stung."
The doors started to rumble and grumble, metal grinding on metal as they slid open. I also wonder whether the people that put us here are controlling them.
"Be careful." Minho started
"Don't die" and I finished.
"Be safe." Newt shouted as he ran to us right before we ran in.
Thomas' POV
"All right, but why would Alby go in the Maze? I mean, he's not a— he's not a Runner."
"Things are different now. Alby went to retrace Bens footsteps before sundown. Look are you gonna help?"
"So he's gonna go back to where Ben was just stung?"
"Alby knows what he's doing. All right? He knows better then any of us."
"What does that mean?"
"All right, it's like you've heard, yeah? Every month the box sends up a new arrival. But someone had to be first, right? Someone had to have spent a whole month in the Glade alone. And that was Alby. I mean it can't have been easy. But when those other boys with the exception of Rey started coming, one after the other, he saw the truth. And he learned that the most important thing is that we all have eachother. Because we're all in this together... Yeah! There you go, greenie"
After Newt and I had our back and forth conversation and I had just started to help Newt, we heard rumbles of thunder quickly followed by heavy rainfall. I looked over at the still open maze doors worried that something has happened to Minho, Rey and Alby.
"They should be back by now. What happens if they don't make it?"
"They're gonna make it.."
"And what happens if they dont?"
"They're gonna make it..."
Once the rain had eventually stopped falling we all went over to the doors because the guys still hadn't come back yet and it was starting to worry everyone especially Newt.
"Come on guys, can't we send someone after them?" I queried
"That's against the rules. Either they make it back or they don't" Gally said with a saddened tone
"Can't risk losing anyone else" Newt said holding back tears because shuck knows he doesn't want to lose his two best friends or his girlfriend.
"Oh no" came from Chuck as the two walls started to move.
"There!" I point out at Minho and Rey grunting while carrying a figure Alby.
"Wait, no, somethings wrong."
"Come on guys you can do it!"
"Come on!"
"Come on Minho!"
"Come on Rey!"
"Come on you can make it!"
"Guys you gotta leave him"
"They're not gonna make it!"
Everyone's voices got blurred as all I could hear were the panicked screams of Rey and Minho and that's when my body just moved and I started running through the walls.
