Chapter 31: Medical Attention

Bennett woke up in a Wangshu Inn bedroom. He lay in bed wrapped around a blanket, to his left, a little table was cluttered with herbs, bandages, and other medical supplies. To his right, was Razor, sitting on a wooden stool, holding his hand and staring at the window, his hair was tied up in a ponytail, and he was wearing more Liyue-styled clothes. The adventurer

tightened his grip on the other's hand, who looked at him. His face was cleaner, and he looked almost younger, Bennett was glad they were taking care of his boyfriend,he smiled at him:

-Benny awake?

The Pyro user nodded and tried to get up, but his chest hurt too much and his vision blurred, so he laid down again:

-Do not get up, the doctor said you were not allowed to.

-Yeah, I get why.

The pyro user responded, but his throat was sore and his voice sounded raspy, he realized how thirsty he was, and hungry too. The boy looked at his partner and mouthed "Water", Razor got up and left the room. When he came back, the electro-user was being followed by this guy Bennett assumed was the doctor. The wolf boy gave the other the cup of water he was holding, he quickly drank it and set it on the little table next to him. While he was doing that the doctor removed the blanket from the bed, which revealed the Pyro user's chest, it had been covered with bandages and had a bit of blood spilling from the middle, the doctor calmly took the bandages off and exposed his injury, it thankfully hadn't made a hole through his stomach but it had left a pretty ugly scar, he felt Razor squeeze his hand as the doctor applied some sort of liquid to the wound, he gasped when it touched his chest, the wolf boy tightened his grip on his hand. When the doctor let go, he helped Bennett sit up with Razor's assistance and wrapped a new set of bandages around his waist. When he finished, he left the room.

-Hey uh, Ray? For how long have I been out?

-Two or Three days

-What the- Days!?

He tried to get up, bad idea, his chest started to hurt, his legs failed him and he tumbled, if his partner hadn't caught him he would have fallen to the ground and never gotten up again. The electro-user carefully put the other back in bed, the adventurer tried to protest but he couldn't go against the wolf boy's strong arms:

-Do not worry Benny! The others are downstairs having lunch-

-They waited for me? But like, why? I spent three days knocked down, they could be in Liyue already!

-Why would they leave?

-No, I mean, if they had left... It's just, most people would...

-Benny I-

They heard someone knocking on the door, then saw it opening. Inside came Amy, Xingqiu, and Chongyun:
-Hey there Bennett. Glad you're back!

Said Amy, the other two nodded in response:
-The doctor said we have to keep changing the bandages and applying that medicine and you should get a bit better, though he suggested that we take you to the hospital as soon as we reach the city.

-Ok... let's go then.

-Wait, you want to travel now?

-I did make you wait three days, didn't I? I can't make you lose any more time!

-It's not much of a problem Bennett-

-No! - he snapped, trying to get up - you've waited for too long, I don't want to be any more of a burden!

-You are not a burden - Chongyun answered calmly - You did great destroying the Ley Line, if you hadn't, we would've probably never even noticed it.

-Exactly - added Xingqiu with a smile - it was very brave of you to go alone to the middle of the mob, I would've never done it.

-Maybe because I would've never allowed it - mumbled the cryo user, the other blue-haired boy chuckled at the comment but said nothing, Fischl and Razor didn't seem to notice it:

-Also Benny, you are not able to walk without tripping, it would take longer if we took you out like this.

-Razor's right! Rest a bit now that you're conscious, eat some food, drink some tea, and enjoy life a bit while it's calm. There's this sweet called "almond tofu" we tried, I think you'd like it.

-I... fine, I'll stay still a bit, but only because I can't really walk, as soon as that's fixed we'll hit the road again.

They all smiled. Bennett didn't understand why, usually people would hate him for delaying their adventures, but it was a nice gesture for a change, he wished the other people were like that. He smiled:

-Also, I want to try that almond tofu.
