Alex wasn't very surprised they weren't here. She knew they were headed home, and they had some sort of transportation. They would see each other again. She just wasn't sure when.
"Do you think we should report Bartholomew to the police? He's creating deadly hybrids, and risking people's lives making them fight the hybrids. He also kidnapped Julie and Adam." Mable suggested.
"Good idea." Alex agreed. As she reached for the phone, Mable asked, "and do we tell people who stopped the apocalypse? Or do we keep it a secret and let people just assume it stopped in it's own?"
"We should maybe tell the truth and go to the news station to explain the situation." Alex nodded.
She dialled 911 and explained the entire situation to the police. As she hung up, Mable gave her an expectant look that said she wanted answers. "They're going to go to all of his labs, and shut down his system on Wednesday." She stated.
"But that's the day after tomorrow! They could be in Alberta by then!" Mable complained.
"And they have labs in Alberta which will also be shut down." Alex reminded her.
"Oh. Okay, I trust the po-po's." Mable smiled. Alex rolled her eyes. "We should go outside and see what damage the zombies caused." Alex suggested.
"Ok."
They went outside, to see people getting interviewed by the news crew. "Do you have any idea what happened to stop this apocalypse?" Cassandra Perkins, the news reporter, asked a dazed citizen.
"I know!" Mable shouted, raising her hand.
Walking over to Mable and Alex, Cassandra asked, "what's your name and what happened to end this strange turn if events?"
"I'm Mable Pods, and this is Alex Rodgers. You see," Mable explained everything about Bartholomew, and managed to keep out the details of Juniper. "And so, our friends blocked the gas leak and now, here we are." Mable stated.
"Wow! A brave performance from our teen friends here, Mable and Alex. Do you know where Julie and Adam may be? We'd like to ask some questions and possibly get some pictures. In fact, Greg, why don't you call down channel 88 and 63, so they can get this on their channel?" Cassandra mused.
"Oh, Julie's kind of shy, I don't think she'd enjoy getting interviewed." Alex explained.
"Oh, I'm sure she'd be fine with a few pictures!"
"I don't-"
More people started to gather and ask questions and Alex started feeling a wave of anxiety. "Listen, we only wanted to explain what happened, and go, that's all." Mable smiled.
"So, after the leak was sealed, where did your friends go? Have you seen them since?"
Alex could feel tears burn her eyes and sobs push up her throat. "We-"
"Who is this Bartholomew and what does he have against you?"
"Well, it's kind of hard-"
"Have you always helped the town like this, or was this a new occasion for you?"
"I mean last year-"
"How did you-"
"STOP! SHUT YOUR FREAKING MOUTH HOLE!" A voice echoed in the crowd.
"No way...." Alex muttered.
"Well, that was a strange welcome into town." Adam smirked.
"Adam...Julie...." Alex gawked.
"ADAM!! JULIE!!" Mable screamed.
The news crew and other citizens looked around confused, for a second until they started crowding Adam and Julie too.
