I walked into the dance room, whispers immediately circling as I ran to Jisung. I stopped in front of him, getting surprised as he leaned in to my ear. "Seems the fan club is gossiping a lot today. How you feeling?"I nodded, feeling chills down my spine as his breath tickled my ear. "We present solo today, show them what they lost to, hmm?"
What I felt just then was unexplainable. Tingles filled my entire body as the boy slowly backed away, innocently cocking his head to the side with an elbow raise.
Yuriko scared me as she touched my shoulder with a worried look. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"
She shook her head. "I heard some delusional girls talking shit about you so I was worried someone bothered you, that's all."
I wonder, does she get the same treatment for being Hyunjins girlfriend?
"No, no one had bothered me. I'm okay." I assured with a smile. We all began to stretch, the anxiety eating at me as the teacher began calling people up to dance.
As expected, Jisung was called early on. He killed the completely self-choreographed dance, sending a wink to me through the mirror at the end.
Everyone cheered, especially the girls. Many others went before Yuriko, then after her, I was up.
I gave the okay to start the music, seeing the two smiles sheering me on from behind.
'Show them what they lost to, hmm?'
I fought a smile, taking a deep breath and feeling the music. My feet quickly took me away, hitting each move on time. I tried to stay more in the moment, as I did when dancing with Jisung.
I avoided looking in the mirror, only looking at the two when I did.
I let myself have fun, smiling and almost laughing as I hit the last note. The class all cheered, the teacher especially happy in front of me. "That was amazing, Ms Ryu. I'm happy to see the change in your behavior."
I skipped back to my seat, my heart racing from the activity and anxiety combined. Yuriko shook my shoulders, giving me so many compliments I couldn't even keep up. We both just ended up laughing, cheering the rest of the class as time went on.
As everyone began leaving the room, Yuriko lowered her voice. "So, will I see you at home tonight?"
I nodded. "I'll be at dinner, but not breakfast." I whispered back. She nodded, turning her eyes to the boy next to me. "Keep her safe."
"I will." He assured. She walked out, hurrying to her last class.
He turned to face me, holding one of my hands. "I'll pick you up. Just text me when."
I nodded, looking around the classroom to make sure it was empty. He chuckled at me and pulled my body closer. I awkwardly wrapped my arms around him, feeling that sense of security.
"You can do it, I believe in you."
I hummed, holding onto him a bit tighter.
"Excuse me, Jisung-ah?" Two girls entered the room. I jumped back from the boy but he held my body against his.
"I j-just wanted to ask, are you two dating? There's many rumors a-and no one knows.."
"N-no-"
"Yes, we are." He looked at me, stealing a glance at my lips with a raise of his brows. The two girls giggled, both bowing and leaving as so. I frowned, hitting his shoulder and trying to get away. "Yah."
He kissed my cheek, finally letting me go. I hit his shoulder again, folding my arms. "What was that? She's going to tell the whole school that we are dat-"
"So what?"
This boy
---"Yes Mother, all of my things are packed and ready to go." I bowed, biting my tongue. Yuriko and I shared a glance as we cleaned up the dinner table, our parents discussing details regarding classes I will take during bootcamp.
"You need to learn how to be a good wife to please Jisung! Send him lots of letters and don't let him lose interest in you!" My father grumbled, pointing a finger at me.
Keep pointing at me
I dare you old man
"Goodnight Mother, Father." We wished our parents, heading off to bed. Yuriko snuck into my bedroom, biting her nails as she sat on my bed.
"I think you are more nervous than me." I huffed. She scoffed, throwing one of my stuffed animals at me. "Take that with you, I bought it for you."
"I remember, I had planned to anyway. Do you know what your going to tell them?"
She nodded, pressing her lips together. "Mother, I went to return Morikos tennis shoes and she wasn't in her room, I don't know where you went and I'm really worried because you didn't tell me your plans."
I threw up a thumb, winking at her. "Perfect. I'm depending on those A Plus acting skills, my twin." She rolled her eyes, watching me finish up packing my bag.
"You'll be okay though, right?"
I zipped up the bag, holding up my arms for her to run up and hug me. "I promise, I'll be okay. I keep getting reminded that I should do what I enjoy and.. this is a step towards that. Showing our parents they can't control what I do because I am an adult."
She backed away, nodding her head. "Okay, keep me updated as much as you can."
A few hours went by after what seemed like the entire night. The clock hit 1:45 as I texted Jisung to head my way. I gathered all three of my bags, heading down to the basement as silently as I could. Once he announced his arrival with a text, I headed out the window.Running a few doors down, I jumped in the front seat as Jisung quickly took off. I took a giant deep breath, chuckling to myself. "I've snuck out so many times but that time.. that was really nerve-racking."
"I'm sure it was but you did great. Now let's go get some rest."
