Chapter 20: Recall

Hours later, he arrived at the office.

"You're late today" Jungwon made his way into his office. "Yea I know. Sorry about that" Jongseong was fixing his tie. And he paused. Tie...

"I know you'll be late. Haneul texted me. She seemed in a rush by the way she typos a lot"

Jungwon commented, watching him. "You okay?"

He shrugged. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"Just asking. You're freakin wasted last night" Jungwon chuckled. "Well now hurry up. The meeting starts soon"

"Shit! I almost forgot about the meeting!" Jongseong stood fast.

He was listening to the presentation quietly as he nibbled on his chapped lips. A sudden flash of image of him kissing Haneul so deeply came into his mind.

Jongseong was so surprised he covered his mouth and stood so fast, causing his chair to fall back. The whole meeting members turned to him, shocked.

"Sorry" his eyes went to each person in the room. "10 minutes break" with that, he ran out of the room.

"What's with Mr. Park?" "Is he okay?" "Should someone check on him?" "Is he pregnant?"

Jungwon who was in the meeting too propped himself up using his elbows. He pouted listening to the other staff murmur. "I wish he is"

Jongseong made his way to the toilet sink, washing his face aggressively as the image was so intense. It got worse when his whole memory of last night came to his mind again. He stopped. He stared at his reflection in disbelief.

"What have I done?!"

He touched his lips with the image of Haneul laying below him helplessly.

"I... I did that?!" His whole face became hotter and his ears already turned red. He tried to control his breathing as he paced back and forth.

'God! I- I don't know if I can focus on anything right now!' The memory from last night kept coming into his mind.

He took out his phone, hesitating whether to call Haneul or not. He ended up leaving her a text.

Haneul just got out of the meeting. She looked at her phone and saw the text. But she didn't reply immediately. She snorted and put her phone away. 'Looks like he remembered what happen' her face was red from both anger and embarrassment.

"Haneul" Elly came beside her. She smiled, teasing. "Looks like you have fun last night"

Haneul rolled her eyes. "What are you talking about?"

"You never wear turtleneck" she pointed out. "With you hair untied"

Haneul's face turned red. Now she couldn't hide it any longer. "It was an accident!"

Elly burst into laughter. "There's no such thing as accident between husband and wife"

"Shut it, Elly!" "Ouh you know I won't!"

Elly was having her time picking fights with Haneul as they walked away. Sunoo who just got out of the meeting room heard them. 'Aww that's unfortunate. I'm just about to get close with her' he smirked.

At dinner time, the atmosphere was quite awkward and tense. No one talked much during dinner. Haneul looked at the small bouquet of flowers he gave her. She looked around the empty restaurant.

"I rent out this place for both of us to have a talk" Jongseong, who sat across from her, said.

"Ouh" she replied shortly.

He stole a glance at her. 'I'm making us awkward again!'

"Haneul" he put down his cutlery. "Last night... I'm sorry"

"Yea I know" she was picking at her food, face already red. He scratched the back of his neck. His ears already turned red. Both recalled last night's incident.

"I won't drink too much ever again, I promise!" He lifted up his hand as an earnest gesture.

Haneul nodded. He let out the air in his lungs in relief.

"Is it bad?" He asked. "The thing I did to you...?? I mean the marks...??" He carefully asked, wishing she was not uncomfortable with him. Haneul nodded, looking away. "I did my best to hide them with this outfit and not tie my hair. But Elly still caught on"

"Oh" he bit his lips. "Sorry" He felt a bit regretful for taking her out on a dinner date while both of them were already awkward.

They finished their dinner without another word.

"Jongseong" she called before she went into her room. "Yes" he turned around, almost getting in his room.

"Please make sure you keep your promise. It would be bad if you did that to other people" she didn't wait for him to reply, she just went into her room.

It was the weekend. Jongseong and Haneul were in the car, still a bit awkward.

"I'm sorry we need to make a stop here" he glanced at her. She hummed in reply.

They entered a row of shop areas. He parked the car.

"I'll be quick, wait for me here" he said and got out of the car. Haneul watched the rearview mirror as he entered a cafe there. Haneul sighed and took out her phone. 'I don't like this awkwardness'

Jongseong was back 30 minutes later, carrying a paper bag.

"Here's some muffin you can eat while we're on the way" he wore the seatbelt.

"Are you meeting Lily?"
