It was around 7:30pm when Jimin comes home from dance academy. He was pretty exhausted since the previous night he went to bed late to study for a test.
Now he's expected to come home late to do more homework and studying. His parents were strict about that.
As soon as he comes into the door he hears his parents happily cheering from their living room. Jimin takes his shoes off and still with his backpack on his back he looks at then confused.
"Mom? Dad? What happened?" Jimin asked confused
"Jimin-ah! Dad is moving up in his career son!" His father said coming up to squeeze Jimin in a hug
"Why you got a promotion?" Jimin asked
"Yes! And we will be moving to America next month so that I can get started right away." His father said enthusiastically
Jimin's mother cheers and she begins singing. His father joins along and they both dance together.
Jimin suddenly felt his whole world crash hearing that they had to move to America. Why were his parents so casual about that. Moving to America was a big change.
"Did you say we're moving...to America? But how could we? I don't know english. I don't want to leave my friends here!" Jimin protested
Jimin's mother stops singing and dancing to look at her son in worry. "Oh honey we have no other choice. This new promotion requires your father to relocate and the expenses are paid for. W-we couldn't possibly turn this opportunity down."
Jimin's father then puts a reassuring hand on Jimin's shoulder "Son, you'll one day thank me. This is good money for us. Besides you'll get use to it. I know you can!"
Jimin just storms into his bedroom and slams his door closed. He drops his book bag to the ground and jumps into his bed screaming into his pillow. Why now? Why when he finally got Jungkook's attention. Why did this happen at the wrong time?
"I don't want to go...there's still so much I have to do here" Jimin cries
Within the course of the month Jimin was like a walking zombie. He was depressed that he was leaving Korea. He told some friends over a course of the month.
Some expressed disappointment in him leaving, but Jimin deep down knew they wouldn't care because Jimin wasn't a stand out type of guy anyway.
He does end up writing a goodbye letter to his close friend Sujin. When it was Jimin's last day of school Sujin was the only one that was clearly emotional.
He even got Jimin some toys as goodbye gift. It was the latest action figure Jimin wanted which made Jimin cry from already feeling emotional.
At the end of the school day Jimin walks into Jungkook's classroom. He asked some students which locker was Jungkook's so that Jimin can give Jungkook his letter. It was a heartfelt letter of Jimin finally confessing his feelings.
When Jungkook came back from school after his two week suspension, they would greet each other in the hallway. They didn't hang out yet, but to Jimin a simple hello was impactful.
Jimin slips the letter into Jungkook's locker located at the back of the classroom. He walks out without looking back. As he brings his legs outside to feel the now warm air hitting his skin. Jimin felt content.
He wasn't able to get the guy at the end. And he has many regrets all because he was a nervous insecure wreck. Jimin promised that he needed to better himself. He takes his final steps out of his middle school wishing Jeon Jungkook the best.
