Promise sat at her large bay window watching the heavy rain trickle down. So much was on her mind and she couldn't seem to escape her thoughts. Her little sister was running herself rampant with Caesars woes and her father was hospitalized with liver failure.
A condition he'd found out he had 3 months ago after fainting at his company.
Not even all the money in the world could save Paul, he was dying. With his diagnosis the doctor only gave him six months to live.
Feeling sorrow was an understatement, Promise had cried herself sick. Her only remedy to feeling slightly better was the joy her children brung. Their tiny smiles and laughter like NyQuil to a cold.
She recanted on all the times she had a rebuttal or rebellious attitude toward him. It devestated her that there was a possibility that she had been a bad daughter. With how her and Onyx had ended she finally saw that her father had only wanted what was best for her. Yet, she had only saw it as him being controlling.
She'd been shutting out the world only making time for her hair shop, father, and children. Not even Rome got her attention. Their connection had been on a decline lately and Promise had completely ceased communication. She felt she had bigger things to worry about.
When Onyx told her their relationship wouldn't last she knew he was saying it out of spite but now it seemed his words were becoming to be truthful which hurt because Rome was a good guy.
Only time would tell if their flame would rekindle.
Promise stood up from the window and emptied the tea from the cup she was drinking from, it had ran cold.
She had to be at the hospital in the next hour to see her father who was bed ridden. Half of that timeframe would be spent getting herself and the twins ready, to be dropped at their father's house before heading to the hospital.
Despite her distaste for Onyx he was great in terms of support. Which she needed tremendously at the time. The look in his eyes everytime she dropped off the twins was as if he was longing for something or lost. Promise knew the look in his eyes, and sometimes felt sparks whenever they accidentally touched while making the exchange. However, she shook it off. Not wanting to travel down that road again.
An hour had passed and she was at the hospital by her father's bedside like she'd planned. Paul looked sickly with a grayish tone to his skin, jaundice in his eyes and dark circles.
Promise wished she could take the illness away and cried as she thought about her father being helpless.
Her mother being strong rubbed Promise's back as she held back tears of her own.
Paul reached over and gripped her hand silently letting her know everything would be okay, though it was the furthest from the truth. He'd do anything to make sure his first born felt content along with his other children, although they had yet to visit him.
Times like these were revealing things and it had him thinking what type of man and father had he been.

Xara walked through the store placing anything she was interested in, in the shopping cart. Her 10 month baby boy playing with a toy of his as she did so. She was out of food and necessities so the trip to target was much needed.
Once she was finished making groceries she traveled to the electronics section to purchase a new pair of headphones for her iPhone. She began to crouch down to check out which color she wanted in the new Apple headphones when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
She stood up gripping the basket for support then turned around. Getting the surprise of her life seeing that it was Quick. Wanting to rush out of the store before Quick realized that the baby in the cart was indeed his. But it was much to late he was already scanning the child that was identical to him.
"You wanna explain to me why lil man got my whole everything?" Quick asked as he continued to analyze the adorable child before him.
Xara watched as he did so her heart nearly beating out of her chest. "Uhh, can we talk about this la- later?" She stammered.
"Uhh, can we talk about this now?" Quick replied sternly but sarcastically mirroring her words.
"I'll wait." He said before crossing his arms taking his off the baby to stare into Xara's eyes.Xara began to explain how she'd found out she was pregnant after pulling her death stunt which surprised her because the incident should've killed any existing fetus. However Qui'mir Jr was strong and had survived. She also mentioned how she didn't have intentions on keeping the baby from Quick. It was just the plan was already in motion so she had to go through with it. Making herself a sacrificial lamb.
The news kind of had Quick furious. She was completely careless and dumb with her decision. Yet, he couldn't completely place blame she had her reasons and didn't know until it was too late. He just wished he could've known and been there.
"Can I hold him?" Quick asked.
Xara answered his question by reaching in the basket and grabbing Qui'mir, subsequently placing him into Quick's arms.
The child had a look of confusion on his wee face, making Quick smile. The instant connection he felt was undeniable. He was his no doubt. With the same eyes staring into each-others.So many things ran through Quick's head, especially how Divine would react. She was a loose cannon these days. But that didn't tether him he was determined to be around his newfound child.

Parker waited outside for Caesar to be released. Just as Onyx had promised he was not being charged with anything due to the illegal search of their possessions.
