Girls Weekend. Ava had invited all of her closest female workers to a weekend out of town in a city full of alcohol and partying..
Las Vegas.
It wasn't your usual type of setting, but Barb had fully convinced you that this weekend would be one to remember, and that going out with the rest of the group would be a good way to clear your head over the disastrous events that concluded the class rankings.
Everything was going as it normally did, classes were ranked by their test scores at the end of the semester, but your class coming in first in the rankings had everyone shocked and in awe at the fast success rate you had with your students while only working at Abbott for only two years now. Except, only one person had turned your celebratory day into a scandalous one, Melissa Schemmenti. She was the one teacher you were close with the most from the moment you arrived, as your classes often had to work together, but the sudden shift in your friendship taking a turn for the worse left you feeling like the world had turned upside down.
She couldn't believe somebody had beat her in the rankings. Her classes always came out on top, nobody ever standing a chance to beat her kids, until you. She was a competitive person, at least that's what you thought at first when she stood across the room with her arms crossed while everyone else gathered around you to congratulate you. But after months of ongoing side eyes and silent treatments, you thought there was a deeper meaning to her standoffish attitude as time went by, but you just didn't know what it was, and that was the most frustrating thing of all.
You were never one for confrontation, and just let the situation play out how Melissa had intended.. speechless.
The only one who did know, or thought she did, was Melissa herself, but she wouldn't dare say a word about it to anybody. Barb, on the other hand, caught onto Melissa's unusual behavior from the start, as she had never seen the redhead act this way before, when she knew the two of you previously held a close bond. She had always caught Melissa's gaze pointed at you, and at some point, unknowingly to Melissa, she saw a glimpse of an unusual gleam in Melissa's eyes, and knew she had to do something about it, as it was clear she had to be the one to somehow get the two of you to talk.
Her plan started out perfectly after you agreed to join in on this trip to Las Vegas. She had meticulously planned to get you as close to Melissa as possible the second you arrived. Having you sit in between them on the plane ride there, being forced to sit next to the redhead for the entire car ride to the hotel, but when the two of you still hadn't said a word to each other, she knew she had to pull out the big guns.
"You have got to be kidding me." A baffled Melissa scoffed in Barb's direction.
"We are sharing a room?" You asked, turning your focus to Barb as well.
"That's right," She stated, with an unwavering stance.
"You have got to be kidding me." The redhead spoke out again.
"Barb, I don't think–"
"Look, I don't have time for arguing. I'm exhausted, there's an open bar, and a very comfortable bed awaiting my arrival, and I need the two of you to get your acts together for the sake of this weekend and for my sanity. I don't want to hear any whining from either of you, as you have no choice in the matter and WILL be sharing a room for the weekend. Understand?" Barb looked at both of you expectantly, a single eyebrow raised, and her arms folded across her chest in her most authoritative way.
