At the restaurant, Alex and Henry are immediately greeted with open arms from everyone.
"Hello, hunny," Ellen says, immediately taking Alex in for a full hug and kissing the mess of Alex's curls on the top of his head like she did when he was a kid. Though she's here on business, she has her hair down and is wearing a long floral dress. She looks younger, not at all like the fierce but powerful President of the United States like she usually does, more like the lady who dropped seven year old Alex and eleven year old June off at school.
"Hi Mom," Alex says warmly. It's been a long time since he's seen her like this, peaceful. He avoids asking her how she is because then she'll jump straight into a work catastrophe.
