The dinner is wonderful in every way. Everyone catches each other up on everything they've missed, and June reveals that she has been thinking about officially joining this new writing firm. Ellen and Oscar make small talk, work and the kids and a new house Oscar has been looking at. Their relationship still is not the strongest, but they are trying.
Henry holds Alex's hand all night, on top of the table, where everyone can see. It's as if Alex's hand is a trophy and Henry has just won the ultimate prize. With Henry's family, they always have to hold hands in secret as to not "upset" the Queen or Prince Philip. It's excruciating, but they both agree it's for the best.
Alex's family is nothing like that. They all love and support Henry and always asks Alex how he is. Oscar always talks to Henry about the latest news, and races Henry's excited for. No one will live up to Henry's Dad obviously, but he sees tiny glimpses of him in Oscar.
