I drop my head onto my workbook, allowing a heavy sigh to escape me. "Whoever came up with the idea of homework must have had some twisted sense of humor," I grumble quietly to myself.

Math homework, in particular, seems utterly pointless. My teacher's constant reminder that I won't have a calculator in my pocket twenty years from now never fails to piss me off. But just to challenge that, maybe I should carry a calculator with me at all times, just for the sake of it.

Beside me, I hear her soft and playful laughter, and despite my annoyance, her joyous sound manages to bring a smile to my face.

"You always tend to be a bit dramatic," she teases, closing her own book and crawling over to where I lay.

"I just really hate homework," I reply, still engrossed in my notebook. Her presence, though, makes it a little more bearable.

"I know," she whispers knowingly.

I lift my head, turning to face her fully, studying the beauty of her facial features. She smiles back at me, and I can't help but admire her even more. "What are you looking at?" she asks with a gentle laugh.

I prop myself up slightly, resting on my elbows. "I'm admiring you, Miss Matthews," I say playfully, raising an eyebrow to add to the charm.

Her lips curl into a smile, and she bites her lower lip before leaning over, placing her left arm over my side, and burying her head into my neck.

"You're an idiot," she murmurs, her breath warm against my skin.

"Only speaking the truth, Lottie," I whisper, letting my hand gently stroke her back.

She raises her head a little, and I can feel my cheeks warm up as she smiles at my reaction. Leaning in, she plants a tender kiss on my lips. "do your homework" she says with a touch of seriousness, her eyes locked on mine.

"Give me one more kiss, and I promise I'll get right back to it," I respond with a playful grin.

She grants my request with another kiss, but as she starts to pull away, I can't resist holding her close and kissing her again.

Breaking away from the kiss for a moment, I leave a small gap between us. "You know, I'll probably need at least 20 more kisses before I can concentrate on my homework," I whisper, unable to contain my affection for her.
