We were resting inside a building, waiting for the night to come, I spot minho at the stairs, looking down at us as we sat on the floor. I climb up the stairs and sit beside him.

" you okay? " I asked

He didn't answer, he just continued staring down at the gladers and jorge and brenda.

" you still pissed that he humiliated you? That he threatened to cut off your fingers? " I asked again

He still didn't budge, didn't even look at me as I was talking.

" minho " I said softly

" I know what you're gonna say next. That I have an ego bigger than a continent, that I'm so full of myself, short tempered and all that klunk " he said

It was my turn to be quiet. I didn't know what to say. Then he laughed sarcastically.

" ya'll just love to assume things about me. And maybe you're right. I'm an asshole. But I'm doing all this for a reason "

He looked somewhat bothered and pissed at the same time. " Minho, I know what you're doing. You're just doing your job as a leader " I said as I rest my palms on his shoulder.

" I wish they'd realize I have feelings too. I may be brave but I'm not fearless. I'm just as scared as anyone else, but I don't show it cause I'm trying to shuckin fulfill my role as a leader. Back when we were at Jorge's building, I had to show that I was tough, that I was strong even though my body was still in so much pain. The gladers can't have a leader who's weak, I can't show any signs of weakness. I'm not some kind of insensitive freak "

" they appointed me as leader, so I'm trying to be a leader. All those people down there, their hopes are all fragile, their fighting spirits constantly need a lift, do you think they wont go crazy on their own and give up on life if I didn't make them feel the need to follow my orders? If I show them a leader who has lost hope do you think they'd even try to survive? It'll be every man for himself! " He said and looked out the window.

I grabbed his chin and made him look at me. I looked at him straight in the eye and kissed him, then I pulled out and said " I'm thankful that you're our leader. And I'm sure those shanks down there feel thankful too. They just dont say it or show it but you're the best leader we could ever have. Newt's okay and Thomas is too but they just don't give as much of a leader vibe compared to you. You look like a leader, act like a leader and speak like a leader. There's so much authority in your voice"

He smiled sarcastically then said " is that supposed to make me feel better? " " No, I'm just stating facts " I said cupping his face then continued " I see differently than the others. When I look at you, I don't see a foul mouthed jerk, I see a smart, witty man, I don't see a short tempered guy, I see a man with dignity and pride. But you know what I love most about you? "

He raised a brow " my hair? "

I laugh " no silly! Your looks are just a bonus. What I'm talking about is your Courage and your strength. Minho, you are our pillar "

" we look up to you for strength, and motivation " I said holding his face firmly in place. He looked straight into my eyes and removed my hands from his face then he sneaked his hand on the back of my neck and kissed me, deep and gentle, then he pulled me into his arms and embraced me.

" thank you for appreciating my worth " he whispered into my ear.
