Thomas releases a nervous laugh & rubs his hands again. Then he leaves Newt to practice some more while he also practices his lines. Meanwhile, y/n is already at the entrance. She dials her phone calls thomas.

" babe? I'm at the entrance. Where are you? " she says looking around

" You're here?! Omg, uh.. um..uh.. GUYS SHE'S HERE! Wait um.. j-just go straight to the pool area " his nervousness was evident in his voice but that was one of his charms, he's cute when he's nervous. Y/n giggled & said " Okay " then she followed his instructions. There were messages along the way, written in little chalkboards. Then she finally came in sight & the music started playing. Newt tried to see the face of the girl that has taken full control over his best friend's heart, since he's never seen her. He had a hard time though cause he was near sighted but soon as she was close enough, thomas came out & greeted his girlfriend, blocking the view so he still didn't see her

But nonetheless he started singing. Thomas put his arms around his girlfriend's waist & she wrapped her arms around his neck & they started dancing.

She giggled & they continued dancing. Thomas spun her around & she giggled. But after a few good seconds all traces of happiness in her face was gone & she backed away. Her eyebrows were meeting at the center. Something about the singer's voice sparked something in her & she remembered a certain someone. " Newt? " she whispered to herself

'That's... his...voice? ' she thought then she looked around & saw the musicians in front of the arc. Newt's eyes widened & he stopped singing. " y/n??.. " - newt

Tears quickly formed in the corners of her eyes as she looked at her first love.

" you guys know each other? " - thomas

" I..*gulp*... y-yeah.. we used to be lo- " - newt

" I'm sorry. I can't sing anymore. I think I swallowed a bug when I yawned. Excuse me " - newt

Just then thomas knelt down on one knee & presented the ring " I'm not really good at speeches but... I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me? "

Y/N & Newt's eyes widened & she looked at Newt then at thomas then at newt then back to thomas.

She felt like something was stuck in her throat & she couldn't bring herself to speak. What was Newt doing here?! And why did the pain come back the moment she saw him? She was over him! But why? Why was she feeling the same pain when he left her?!?. She didn't know. But she did know that she lived thomas & she's happy with him. Thomas starting to feel bothered at how long she was taking to reply.

" I.. " she croaked then faked a smile " yes, I will " "YES!!" - thomas

He wore the ring around her finger & bear hugged her. Newt walked away lifelessly. He wanted to be happy for them but ... regret was weighing him down. He didn't want to leave her... he wanted to take her with him to new york, he was offered an opportunity to accomplish his dream. But that meant that she would delay hers. They couldn't both reach for their dreams and stay together. They were young & immature. And if y/n & thomas were fire X ice, they were fire x fire. They both had strong personalities. So their relationship ended with a fight. Y/N might have moved on but Newt never forgot her, he never lost feelings for her. Although he thought he didn't care anymore, it was all just actually hiding in the deepest chamber of his heart. Funny how a simple business trip made him meet Thomas & they instantly became best friends, he always asked him why he didn't bring his gf along in their meetings & thomas would just say that she's not into this stuff.

But actually, the reason why she doesn't like coming along is because she hates meeting musicians, cause they remind her of newt. Thomas' business revolves around music, he owns a bar & he's constantly looking for talented musicians to perform in his bar. Maybe she never got over newt after all. But she has Thomas now, he's a great person & he's everything she wanted Newt to be. Warm, thoughtful, and expressive of his love. After dinner she excused herself to go the bathroom but Newt met her in the corridors.

" so you finally found the right guy for you huh? " - Newt

" I'm happy for you " - Newt

" thanks " she smiled awkwardly " how've you been? "

" I've been all over the world " " wow, that'.. that's great! " " It would've been better if you were with me " " Newt.. "

" Sorry. But I'm just saying. You woulda been proud of me. I've grown y/n. I've changed into the man you wanted me to be. But I guess it's too late now. I doubt you'd come back to me even if I changed " " I'm sorry Newt.. I - " " You dont have to explain yourself. It's my fault. I didn't treat you right while you were mine. H-have a good life with thomas " he faked a smile & walked away holding back his tears while she stood there completely unsure of her feelings.
