SASKIA KALI ANDREAS (POV)
Incoming Call...
GRANDMA
(Hello Kali, how are you?)
"Im fine grandma"
(And your dad?)
I looked at the guy in the front seat before answering my grandma.
"He's busy, I guess?"
(That's exactly the reason why I don't want to send you there)
"But Grandma, Im fine and I like it here."
(I'll talk to your dad, or else Ill bring you back here myself)
I bit my finger and sighed
"Grandma, please."
I pleaded. I have been living in Italy with my grandparents eversince and now that I am 16, I want to meet my dad too. He's the only parent I have because my mom died upon giving birth to me.
(Fine, but please take care of yourself and behave well. We miss you already)
I nodded my head as if they can see it.
"I miss you too, grandma. Tell gramps as well"
(Si, Addio.) Yes, bye.
I once again looked at the guy infront who is also talking to someone and I bet that's my dad he's talking to.
I shifted my gaze when he looked at me in the rearview mirror.
I never met my dad but I have seen pictures of his together with my mom but they were so young back then. I can't deny the fact that I am disappointed when this guy showed up at the airport instead of my dad but who am I to judge? I believe I was just a mistake between my parents because dad abandoned me when mom died.
Still, I wanted to meet him. I wanted a fathers love like my friends have back in Italy.
"Excuse me, Ms. Andreas."
I waved my hand gesturing him not to call me that. It is so formal.
"No please, call me Saskia or Kali."
He flashed a smile and lowered his head as if what he's about to tell me would make me mad.
"Your dad won't be able to make it." He looked at me flustered but I smiled, I already expected that anyway. "I would accompany you to your school, that's where he'll meet you when he got the chance."
I panicked when he mentioned school. Oh no!
"Is he sending me to a boarding school?" He nodded and I almost wanted to make a call to my grandma. "W-why?"
He shrugged and continued driving. I guess, he really is busy. I tried to divert my attention the beautiful scenery outside the car window just to ease the uncertainties that is building inside me.
I notice a fewer houses as we pass by a port.
'Is this still part of Manila?'
We parked beside a small teahouse and I immediately followed the driver inside the small place and I guess this is not just a teahouse but a teller for the port as well.
I patiently waited for the guy and when he looked at my direction he showed me tickets. I just nodded as I sat down at one of the tables and he did too.
"we still have 30 minutes, what do you want?"
I shook my head because I'm not in the mood for a coffee. I just want to rest.
He ordered himself a coffee and I notice him looking at the people at the teahouse. It seems like he's trying to look at each people's faces and studying their movements.
"What was your name again?"
I shyly ask because I can't remember whether or not he introduced himseld back at the airport.
"Luke" He smiled, showing his perfect set of white teeth "I'm 20 years old, Thank you!"
I almost choke laughing. That was uncalled for, he's funny.
********
"Ms. Saskia"
I opened my eyes as I sat down, I immediately felt my head spinning because of the current. I saw Luke smiling at me and I guess we just docked at another port because I heard a lot of people talking outside.
I nodded and he went out of my room. I jumped out of bed and followed him outside.
The sea breeze kissed my skin and I smell the salty air accompanied by the stench of a fish. Ugh!
But the view was amazing, and I can't help but feel great. I think I would love it here even if its on the countryside.
I saw Luke entered a car and he waved his hands as if he's trying to call me and I complied.
We drove for at least half an hour before I saw a huge gate. I guess two cars would fit at the same time.
Luke opened his window and the guard immediately nodded his head. No questions asked.
The gate opened and Luke looked at me.
