Chapter Thirty-Six - Lunch Date With Friends

I wake up still wrapped in the arms of Bill and Tom. I try my best to get out of their hold but I just get pulled back into bed.

"Guys I have to go to work." They slowly let go of me and I stand up almost tripping over Tom's tail as I do. I go get dressed and head downstairs I make myself some toast and sit down on the counter. Gustav comes into the kitchen and walks over to me.

"Hello Gus, wanna come with me to work today?" I smile at him as I ask the question. He nods and I finish my last bite of toast. He comes up to me standing in front of me before pulling me into him. He places his face in my neck and places a few kisses on it. He lets go and I smile at him.

"Are you ready now?" I place my hand on his cheek and he leans into my hold nodding. I hop off the counter and grab Gustav's hand pulling him with me to the car. I start up the car and drive to the cafe. When we get there I lead Gustav through the back. He sits down at the table closest to the counter. I go into the back and grab my apron putting it on. I start up all the machines and brew the coffee for the day. Emily comes in and waves at me enthusiastically.

"Hey girl, how are you?"

"I'm great Em."

"So the guy you brought in today must be Gustav right?"She gives me a smug grin and I can't help but smile back at her. I start to imagine what her wings may look like but I shake my head. Maybe someday I could ask her. I notice her hand waving in front of my face and I shake myself out of my thoughts.

"Yeah, I brought Gustav with me today." After I answer Em smirks at me and I can already tell the question she's going to ask me.

"Already thinking of all the things you guys do together huh?" She has a smug grin on her face and I feel my face heat up.

"Em! I would never do that...not at work at least." I mumble out the last part causing her to laugh.

"So you'll think about it in other places hmm?" She wiggles her eyebrows at me and I can't help but laugh at her silly behaviour.

"That's enough of that, how about we finish setting up the cafe."

"Aye aye, captain." Emily jokingly salutes me and we both burst into a fit of giggles. We both finish setting up and I unlock the door for customers to eventually come in. Em helps me prepare the pastries for the day and someone walks in the door. I take their order and they wait at a table. While I'm preparing the order I turn to Em.

"Hey Em, I was wondering if maybe you'd wanna go out to lunch when my lunch hits?" I turn back to the coffee I"m making.

"Oh, sure we haven't gone out to lunch together in so long, plus it'd be nice to get to know one of your partners."

"So, where do you wanna eat?"

"There's a temporary Hello Kitty-themed cafe in town I've been meaning to go to, how about that?"

"Sounds like a plan then." I nod my head and head over to the counter calling the name of the customer. They pick up their coffee and walk out the door.

(Time skip)

Em walks out the door waving to me but she stops halfway turning to me.

"Oh, I'll text you the address when I get to the cafe." She waves at me and closes the back door. I wait for Derrick to arrive. He finally get's here and I excitedly head to the break room to take off my apron.

"You only get that excited when you have something planned, so what's up?" Derrick's voice is a bit smug but I excitedly explain.

"Em, and I are gonna have lunch together with my partner." I pick up my purse and go out to the table that Gustav is sitting at and tap on his shoulder. He looks up at me and I nod my head motioning for him to follow me. I have him follow me to the car. I pull out my phone and type the address of the cafe into my GPS. I pull out and follow the directions of the GPS and arrive at the cute little cafe. I go in and see Em waiting for us at a table. She stands up and I walk over hugging her.

"It's good to see you outside work, we haven't gone out together in forever girl." Em pulls away from the hug and sits down. I sit down across from her and Gustav sits next to me.

"Yeah, but you know how college is, I barely have any time with my partners let alone my other friends." I sigh and I feel Gustav grab my hand. I turn to him and smile.

"That must suck, it's good that you have off days though."

"Yeah, but they've been taken up by personal research lately."

"Oh, about what?" Em leans forward on the table excitedly.

"About you and Gustav, creatures blending in with humans." I try my best to not come off as hostile but Em's eyes widen in shock and fear.

"I don't know what you're talking about." She shakes her head and leans back as far as she can in her seat.

"It's okay Em, I've known about these things for a while I live with four of them, Bill and Tom are incubi and Georg is a vampire. Even Gustav is a werewolf. I'm not gonna tell anyone I just want to learn more."

"Oh, thank god, I was so worried that you were gonna expose us to the world." She lets out a sigh of relief and smiles at me.

"Why don't we get some food first?"

"Absolutely sugarplum." Em get's up and I go to follow after her but not before turning to Gustav and asking what he wants.

"Anything is fine." I nod my head and I walk up to the counter with Em. I order a cappuccino with foam in the shape of Hello Kitty and a pudding with a little picture of Purrin on the top. I get Gustav a sandwich with a little penguin character sticking to the top and a regular soda. They tell us to wait at our table for our food so Em and I go back to sit down.

"So you live with two incubi, a werewolf, and a vampire?"

"Yeah."

"So you live with three of the most sexual creatures in the mythical world and somehow you still have the energy to walk into work."

"Well Tom has the ability to manipulate senses so when I need to go to work after a rough night I try to bring him, but it's only happened once so far." Our food is dropped off at our table and I excitedly take a picture of the cute cappuccino. I feel Gustav looking at me and I turn to him. He has a gentle smile on his face.

"You're so cute." He places a kiss on my cheek and I feel my cheeks heat up.

"You guys are so cute!" Em's enthusiasm causes me to flush even more and I take a sip of my drink trying not to pay attention to the heat creeping up my neck.

I can already tell that this lunch is gonna be eventful.
