【JOSEPHINE】
In one swift gesture, Hero pins me to the passenger side door.
He brings his hand to my hip.
Stares into my eyes. "I brought you something."
"Yeah?"
"Give me a sec."
I shake my head.
"No?"
"No." I don't have a second. I've been waiting far too long already.
"You're gonna want this."
There isn't a single thing better than the hungry look in his eyes.
It goes all the way to my core.
I need his need.
His desire.
His ache.
His everything.
I... "Are you safe?"
His pupils dilate. "You mean you—"
"Yeah. I still have an IUD. And I'm safe. There was just... it's been awhile."
He nods. "Yeah. I am."
"So you—"
"Fuck, Jo." He shifts his hips, releasing me, then he motions to the car.
"Get in."
"Here?"
His chuckle is soft and deep. "No. I've been dreaming about this for two years. I'm not gonna fuck you in the backseat."
"You shouldn't dare me like that."
He cocks a brow, doing just that.
I pull the door open. Slide into the seat. Hike my dress up my thighs.
He watches with rapt attention as I spread my legs.
Fuck, I don't have a clue what I'm doing.
I just know I need that look in his eyes.
I need all his desire. All his love. All his trust.
Hero slides into the driver's seat. "You teasing me, baby?"
The pet name sets me on fire.
"Jo?"
My nod is heavy. Needy.
I'm way out of my league here.
Hero's a sex god. At best, I'm along for the ride.
His eyes trace a line down my body. It's slow. Deliberate. Like he's savoring every inch of me. "Fuck, you're gorgeous."
"Thank you." My cheeks flush. I forget about taking the upper hand. I don't need that. I need this. Now.
"This." He reaches into the backseat and grabs a small pink box.
"Metaphorical."
He chuckles. "Sweet." He pulls the lid to reveal two cupcakes. "Chai and cardamom. And double chocolate."
Mmm.
"Wasn't sure which you'd prefer."
"Hero—"
"I know you hate feeling left out."
"You're..." My chest warms. Affection and desire mingle in my veins.
It's an intoxicating mix. I want to drink it in. Swim in it. "Thank you."
