Two: Sights on Empire City

The adventure ahead was a bit of an experience for the three hedgehogs. Ever since they left their icy home of Holoska, they got to see sights they never saw: mountains, forests, and even an everglade. It was sunrise when they arrived at the ocean, the hedgehogs overlooking the view before them. "Pretty cool huh?" Sonic asked Shadow and Silver, who couldn't have agreed. "It's beautiful..." Shadow breathed.

Sonic sped on down to the beach, Shadow and Silver following. "We can make a boat and some ore to row across the water until we find land, a city, or something," the blue hedgehog finally said as he span to the others. Shadow liked the idea, but he didn't know where they were gonna get the items needed to build it. Silver soon came back with a few logs engrossed in his psychic powers. "Someone need a log?" he asked happily.

"Silver! You're a genius!" Sonic exclaimed happily. Shadow just stood there with a drop dead look on his face. "How did he-" Shadow was cut off by Silver saying, "I found some around the wooded area here. We can make a boat and some ore with this!" Shadow was about to talk, but he just nodded and chuckled. Silver, you really are a genius, he finally thought. Placing the logs down, Silver turned over to Sonic and Shadow, and the three immediately got to work.

They were rowing. Yep, they were rowing across the ocean, and they didn't know how long they were doing so. Shadow felt like he could give out at any moment, so he did so. "Ugh! How long have we've been rowing?! It feels like we've been out here for days!" he complained as he leaned in back against the back of the boat. Sonic and Silver also gave out. They too, were worn out like Shadow.

"I have no idea. To me, it feels like we've been out here for a few hours," Sonic moaned. "A FEW hours? Sonic...it feels like days to me," Shadow companied. Silver had to agree with Shadow. It kind of did feel like days since they started rowing and setting off. "We still haven't found land or a city," Silver moaned, and Sonic knew that this was the case. They were only surrounded by water.

Silver's stomach soon growled. "I haven't eaten anything since we left, and I'm already hungry," he said with a sigh. "What? You forgot-" Sonic was cut off by his own stomach growling. "Yeah. I'm hungry too," he then said. Shadow was rubbing his growling stomach as he said, "Ugh, Sonic. Did you seriously forget to eat before we started rowing?" He was looking up at the sky, very worn out, until he got up, rubbed his head, and gasped. "Are those...coffee beans?" he said in a happy tone.

He was seeing things, for he thought that Sonic and Silver were huge coffee beans, just sitting in front of him. "Uhhhhhh...Shadow? Are you alright?" Sonic asked in confusion. Shadow just started drooling in excitement. "C-C-COFFEE BEANSSSSSS!!!" Shadow finally yelled, launching himself towards Sonic and Silver, who screamed in response. Before Shadow could "bite" Sonic, the blue hedgehog swatted him away. "What the heck man?!" the blue hedgehog snarled. "You can't just go attacking random people!"

Shadow shook his head again, and he just saw Sonic and Silver normally. "But...you were coffee beans. And I was hungry!" Shadow exclaimed. "Dude. You were just seeing things. Get your head checked," Sonic said with a sigh and an arm cross. Silver then had the same thought as Shadow, for he then bit one of Sonic's quills, making him yelp. "Silver! What the-?!" Sonic exclaimed. Shadow joined in on the fun as the two tried to attack Sonic. Sonic reached his limit as he yelled, "CAN YOU TWO CUT IT OUT?!"

He shoved Silver and Shadow aside, one of his quills having a slight bitemark on it from where Silver bit it. As soon as Sonic was calm, the two overlooked a huge transport ship above them, and the next thing they knew, they saw the Lady Liberty statue. They had arrived in Empire City! "You guys! It's a city! We're saved!" Silver exclaimed happily as he used his powers to fly off the boat and towards the dock. Shadow and Sonic rowed from behind, both happy to see Silver excited. Now the adventure was really starting to heat up!

When they arrived at the dock, Silver smiled and teased, "What took you two so long? I beat you to the city dock!" Sonic smiled back and patted Silver's head as they walked in an alley way. "These overcoats are heavy and hot. Time for a new look," Sonic then said as he took his overcoat off, a long sleeved yellow shirt underneath it. He threw it away as they hedgehogs began to look around the clothing selections. There were tons to chose from. It was that hard!

Shadow went first with his clothing of choice. "We could get all snazzy and edgy Sonic! How's this?" he asked, showing off a leather jacket of some kind. That made Sonic and Silver laugh. "What even is that?!" Sonic exclaimed through laughs. "It's a jacket!" Shadow yelled. He sighed and put it up. No go for that... Shadow thought.

Silver chose an outfit next. It was a bit more simpler. Just a random shirt and shorts with a hat. "That's a bit too simple," Shadow told Silver. "I just thought it looked cute!" Silver exclaimed. Sonic did agree with how cute it was, but then he looked up. "Ah. Now that's perfect," he breathed with a smile. Shadow and Silver looked up too, and there were three jean overalls hung up on one of the wires.

"They're just right. Not to crazy, not too plain, but in the middle. It's indeed perfect," Shadow agreed. Silver used his powers to get the overalls down, and handed each one a pair. "It seems like these will fit us too!" Silver added as he took his overcoat off. Shadow did the same. All three hedgehogs were wearing the same long sleeved yellow shirt like Sonic was. They changed into the overalls, and headed out into the streets.

Sonic was already enjoying the new look. It was comfortable, gave him plenty of room to walk around in, and the silver goggles really added some flair to the look. "This is so comfy!" Silver exclaimed happily. Shadow had to agree with Silver. The overalls didn't burn him up like the overcoat did. It was ten times better than the jacket he found in the alleyway.

The two hedgehogs noticed that Sonic was gone, and he came back with brochures in hand. "Brochures anyone?" he asked with a smile. Shadow's eyes widened. "How did you-" he was cut off by Sonic saying, "Super speed. Duh." Silver took some of the brochures Sonic had picked up and started looking through them. "This place is called Empire City! Seems like they have lots to to here!" he exclaimed.

After looking through them, the hedgehogs ran into the first part of their adventure: the sights of Empire City. They first sat in front of a beautiful fountain in the central park to rest up for a bit, Silver using his powers to feed some bread crumbs to pigeons. Sonic smiled as he watched Silver having a bit of fun and Shadow taking in the sun's warmth. Next, they decided to check out a history museum. It was true that they had history books back at their sanctuary, but this was much different than the books.

Finally, as they walked down a street, Shadow happened to stop and stare at a motorcycle in a display window, catching his attention. "Oh my...what's this beauty right here?" Shadow asked himself as he touched the window and stared at the motorcycle. He then began to daydream, picturing himself riding the motorcycle across the world. Sonic and Silver were about to head out, but Sonic ran over to Shadow as Silver went on ahead.

"Shadow. Earth to Shadow!" Sonic exclaimed as he tried to snap Shadow out of his trance. He slapped Shadow in the face, and that brought him back to his senses. He screamed a bit and saw the blue hedgehog in front of him. "What?!" he said. Before Sonic could answer, they realized that Silver was gone. "Wait. Where's Silver?!" Sonic screamed. He noticed that Silver had dropped his bear as Sonic picked it up. "Come on Shadow we have to find him!"

Sonic grabbed Shadow's arm as the two left the display window with the motorcycle and sped far and wide across Empire City to search for Silver. Surely he hadn't gone too far ahead of them right? If yeah....this was going to be a hard search mission.
