Chapter 4

Third-Person pov

(Y/N) woke up yawning, turning around to see Felix asleep. Unable to go back to sleep, he gets out of his sleeping bag and quietly exits the tent, not wanting to wake Felix up. Once outside, he breathed in some air and walked over to the campfire. (Y/N) could see Bill along with seven others. Who he would come to know as Elodie Rakoto, Dwight Fairfield, David King, Yui Kimura, Jonah Vasquez, Quentin Smith, and Nea Karlson. "Couldn't sleep (Y/N)?" Bill questioned and smokes his cigar as the detective took a seat on the log. "How'd you know?" (Y/N) asked as his gaze fixated on the fire "Kid when you're living in an inescapable nightmare. Getting good rest is rare, kinda like Quentin over here. The lad is always awake, bags under his eyes have gotten worse. You can tell." David said and motioned over to Quentin. The poor boy was drinking coffee as he tried to stay awake. Looking at his face, it seems he hasn't slept in days.

"What's your story, Quentin?" (Y/N) asked wondering why the kid refuses to get some sleep. They're in the campfire, the killers shouldn't be able to reach them here. Or so that's what (Y/N) thought. Then again, he's still unfamiliar with the realm and the killers. "I-I gotta stay awake or Freddy will get me...The Nightmare, he came with me into this realm...Freddy got my friend, Nancy. Now he's after me, I'm the last kid of the preschool incident." Quentin said through breaths. His exhaustion was showing, but he still remained awake through sheer willpower. "Who is Freddy anyway? What's his power?" (Y/N) asked

"Freddy is a dream demon, able to pull you into his world, the dream world. In there, he has complete control. Appearing and disappearing, he can trick you with blood pallets as well as blood traps. The only way to escape from the dream world is either to have someone who's awake to wake you up out of the dream world, get the alarm clocks scattered around the realm, or hurt yourself during mending. It only gets worse, and amidst that, he has a perk that blocks the exits for 60 seconds, preventing survivors from escaping. It's only active when the exit gates are opened and he manages to hook a survivor." Quentin explained as (Y/N) was interested in perks, this is his first time hearing of it. Did he come with perks too? He'll save that question for later.

"In any case have you ever tried sleeping? We're in the Entity's realm, you'd think Freddy would have some restrictions outside of Trials. If he pulled all of us into the dream world, then he'll be preventing trials from happening, right? I was sleeping not long ago and I'm fine. Heck, Felix looked to be sleeping peacefully. I'd say Freddy can't get you." (Y/N) said as he tried to reason with Quentin. "It could be that he's only focused on me and not the others. I can imagine Freddy making a deal with the Entity to partake in Trials in exchange for me. Whatever it may be, I'm staying awake." Quentin goes back to drinking his coffee. (Y/N) felt sorry for Quentin and for himself, having failed to assure the teenager that he'll be okay. This Freddy guy really did leave Quentin traumatized. (Y/N) felt prepared if he ever encounters Freddy, well he knows what to expect against that Christmas- Sweater- Wearing, child murderer.

The detective would go on to ask more about the killers as well as their abilities. The survivors inform (Y/N) about all the killers, starting with The Trapper all the way to the recent killer. (Y/N) then brought in his question about perks. To which Elodie explained the perk system clearly. Each survivor enters the realm with 3 perks of their own. Perks are teachable among survivors, with them being able to use four in a trial. "I wonder what kind of perks I have" (Y/N) thought to himself, he then went on to ask questions about The Entity. Wanting to know exactly what they're dealing with here. Elodie was the one to step in, answering his question. She admits to knowing The Entity before coming to the realm. Elodie went on to say that the Entity is responsible for her parent's disappearance and her motive is to find them. Assuming, they're somewhere in the realm.
