Summary

It was

The sun is close to being fully set. Scar and Jellie stand where the party many hours before was. Many more people than both of them remember are in the crowd. They watch as Scar runs up the sidewalk, still wearing his work outfit and backpack.

Xisuma greets him, "Scar! Where have you been?"

Scar catches his breath upon the hill. "I quit my job four hours ago."

People are quiet at this. Bird Boy (Grian?) cheers, "Let's go, Scar!" Others laugh and give a few congratulations.

"Let's get you a drink for that," Xisuma laughs too and motions for Other Scar to follow. He laughs as well and follows.

The rest of the night follows as it did the first time. Everyone talks far into the night, eating and drinking. Other Scar celebrates his quitting with jokes from Cub and some others Scar doesn't remember the names of. The moon has gone past its peak when the party fizzles out.

This time, as the wind blows as usual, a star in the sky also grows brighter than it should be. Once the flash and gust are gone, a card floats in a rather random spot on the hill. Number seventeen shows a Scar holding a glass of water, almost spilling it with the angle he holds it at. There's a slight smile on his face as a bright star shines right behind his head. 'THE STAR' is its appropriate and real name.

"At least if everything went wrong, we know he was happy," Jellie approaches the card. "Right?"

"Right." Scar motions for Jellie to touch the card, and she does.
