After chatting with Nkululeko under the tree for about half a day, I realized that he was actually a good guy and he was full of snarky remarks. These brothers are the same yet so different.Later that night, my so-called husband came home early. It made me feel disconcerted, for one I wanted to feel annoyed with him around but I wasn't. I was thrilled that he came home early and that I could at least see him and sleep in the same bed. But I wasn't about to let him know that his presence excited me, and made me happy.
After his shower, he wore his pajama pants and a white t-shirt. I looked at him through the mirror as I sat at the dressing table applying some cream on my arms. He dried his faded haircut with a towel before discarding it on the floor. I rolled my eyes at his antics. It was a silent 'my wife will pick it up, that's why I married her in the first place' Men!
"Can we talk?" I heard him say. I ignored his plea and continued to fix my side of the bed.
"Please, Azalea." He sounded tired like it was taking a lot for him to utter just those words.
I still ignored him though, because I was hurt and he didn't understand the magnitude of which his actions hurt me.I got under the covers and stayed the hell away from his side as I curled up on my side. I felt the dip of the bed and shuffling as he snaked his hand on my waist. I snapped.
"Don't!" I removed his arm with more force than intended but I didn't care. "You don't get to do that. You don't get to just waltz in here and act like everything is okay between us when we both know that it isn't. Not after you ghosted me to go spend time with your little girlfriend," I really snapped. It was so unlike me to feel this way.
"In case you forgot, I am your wife." I turned my head slightly to cast him the side eye.
"You're my wife, you got that right." God, I hated how I loved hearing his deep voice admit to that. It was so alluring and deep. I shifted a little because my body was really betraying me. "Amanda, on the other hand, she's just an ex, just that." Upon hearing her name, I got reminded just why I was mad and it was damn justified.
"Sure, we spend the time with our exes now and avoid our wives, what a time to want to be your ex," I sarcastically murmured. I heard his sigh. Well if he was tired, he must just go back to Amanda. Why was he acting like a perfect husband now? What irked me was the fact that he flipped his shit when that creep at the beach was talking to me and he expected me to be chill when he was gallivanting the streets with his ex-girlfriend.
"I wasn't- look at me," I didn't look at him. I didn't want to lose my resolve. "Azalea, look at me," he said again, more sternly this time. I obeyed him against my wishes. I turned my body around. He was seated upright, leaning against the headboard.
"I wasn't avoiding you, I would never do that." He looked at me, angling his body to face me.
"I was handling a project at work that needed my attention and I couldn't focus on anything else but on that project," He sighed as he saw my fallen face. Of course, work came first to him, what did I expect?"No, don't - Azalea." He brought his hand to my face and cupped my cheek, stroking it with his thumb. "Mama, I'm done now, you have my attention. I knew that project would take long so I made sure that I finished with it so I can spend time with you," he looked at me so intensely. I suddenly looked like a shy schoolgirl.
"And Amanda?" I peeked at him. He smirked that sexy smirk of his. I removed his hand from my cheek as I scoffed.
"Hey, come on now." he held my waist with the same hand as he brought me closer to him. I was now partially lying under him as he looked down at me. "I happened to meet her by coincidence, and someone took pictures there's nothing to it, I promise." He kissed the corner of my lips making my breath shudder.
"You...are...my...wife," He placed a kiss with each word all over my face making me smile like a crazy girl. Maybe I was crazy, for him.
He looked at me with that intense look again, I felt that look all over my body as shivers erupted on my skin. I gulped. He dived in and smashed his lips on mine. I closed my eyes as I opened my mouth for his tongue to explore my mouth.I felt his hand grip tighter at my handles on my waist. He grunted when I pulled him down to me so he was fully hovering over me. I moaned loudly because hell, his kisses were addictive. I felt the hard thing poking my leg. Oh God, this was getting real, real fast. He pulled away slightly, leaving me a panting mess. I still had my eyes closed, I was afraid to open them and see the hunger in his eyes that I could feel through my eyelids.
"Not tonight, when I have you, you'll know it." He whispered over my lips and then placed a lingering peck on them. I blushed at his words, finally opening my eyes to look at him. He smiled a real and full smile. "Come, mama." The endearment was melting my insides and doing foreign things to my lady down there.
He laid on his back and pulled me to practically lie on top of him. I felt embarrassed lying over him with my weight. But he squeezed my handles, surely sensing how tensed I was.
"Relax, mama, you alright." That assured me, so I did just that, I relaxed. A smile made its way over my lips as I cuddled up to him like a teddy bear.
"Next time, talk to me before you disappear. You made me feel unwanted, I was really hurt to find you on the internet with a girl more beautiful than me as Amanda when I hadn't seen your face in two weeks." I put my face on the croak of his neck.
"Many thoughts invaded my mind, things I haven't thought about myself in a long time," It wasn't a secret that I was insecure about my body, especially now that I was married into royalty."Who said Amanda was more beautiful than you? You are the only one I have my eyes on. And I promise that I will never disappear from you again, I'm sorry my love," He kissed my temple. "No woman, and I mean no one comes close to how beautiful you are, never let anyone tell you or make you feel otherwise, okay?" He tilted my face to look at him.
Looking at his genuine and sincere eyes I nodded. "Okay," I smiled warmly up at him. He kissed my forehead again.
"Let's sleep, mama."
