*OLIVIA'S P.O.V*

I ran through the cold, deserted streets of London. It was dark and grim, the atmosphere hadn't changed since it happened.

I heard deep groans and moans coming from behind me, it sparked my weak legs to run even faster. Sweat was dripping from my forehead and my breath was sharp and heavy as I sprinted for my life. I whizzed around into the alleyway to my hiding place and darted towards the door.

I gave a quick sigh of relief as the heavy metal door clicked open and allowed me to enter, I wasted no time before hurrying into the cold room and locking the door again.

I was safe.

For Now.

I let my back hit the metal door before my body slid down and landed on the floor, tears running down my face as I buried my head in my hands. 2 Months had gone by, since the outbreak, and I'm still not used to it. I mean, who would be? I was all alone, just me in the whole world. I often wondered what made me so special, why did I survive when my family and friends didn't?

Oh, sorry. Let me introduce myself...

My name's Olivia Allen, I'm 18 and works... worked in River Island. I was studying at college to be a teacher, but I guess that'll never happen now. 2 months ago, the world ended... Everyone died, everything changed. And I'm the only one left, well, I'm the only human left.

You see, an outbreak of a deadly, deadly disease happened two months ago. Everyone just started off with a cold, a runny nose and stomach ache. But then, it got a whole lot worse. People started dying, and everyone knew that their time would come too, but some deaths were more gruesome than others.

The infected didn't just die as normal, they didn't have a funeral and got buried 6 feet under and that was the end of it, Oh no. They came back, they were resurrected, but they were no longer themselves. They came back as Zombies. No feelings. No memories of who they were. Just empty shells of horror.

I know, it sounds like something out of a horror movie, but it isn't... this is real.

My whole family is out there somewhere, but even if I bumped into them in the street they wouldn't recognise me, if anything... they would surely kill me. They same with my friends, I remember when I wasn't alone.

My best friend survived too, Jacob. I remember that day, only a month ago. It was only me and him, sitting in this room, our hiding place from the monsters outside. But, we couldn't just stay in here forever, we needed food.

"Stay here, Liv, I'll be right back with something to eat." His angelic voice whispered to me. I protested to go with him, but he wouldn't let me. Before I could say anymore to him, he rushed out the door after giving me a kiss on the cheek. I got up and tried to open the door and go with him, it was far to dangerous for him to go alone, but he had locked it...

He never came back, I waited 2 days with no food. I waited for him to come back until finally, I accepted that he was gone, and that I was alone.

And that was the last time I ever saw my best friend. That was the last time I saw a human being.

I remember having to face my fears and bust the door open and brave the outside world and go and get some food for myself after spending a week in the shelter.

And that's what I've been doing ever since. Every 3 days I ran down to the shop at the end and took as much food as I could carry, avoiding the walking dead sauntering around. The food was untouched, they didn't need to eat, and when they did, it certainly wasn't bread and jam.

I looked down at the floor, I had just grabbed two loaves of bread, a jar of jam, a 6 pack of bottled water and a large back of crisps. Soon, the food would be out of date in all nearby shops and empty houses, but I would just have to risk it. I would rather die of natural causes than by one of them.

Before, when everything was normal, I wanted a laptop, make up, a new phone, clothes and accessories; now... I just want someone to hold, someone to talk to, a human, anyone.

I stood up from the door, picking up the food and putting it on the wooden table by the wall. Me and Jacob had made ourselves a little house thing. There was a coffee table by the wall, two mattresses on the floor, a bucket for "Business" and a tiny window in the back wall, it had a metal shield over it of course, but it's nice to know that if we wanted light there was some.

I looked over at Jacob's mattress, it had been empty for a month now. For a few days after he went I slept in it. I could smell his scent on the cover, but then it faded, just like he did.

I flopped onto my cold, damp mattress and closed my eyes before any more tears could escape. I was always crying these days. Over Jacob, my family, my friends and even the people I didn't know. All I wanted, all I needed right now was someone else here.

But that was impossible.
