*GEORGE'S P.O.V*
Those... things... were completely blocking off our path. And more were coming from all sides, gathering round; their eyes lifeless yet full of vengance.
"What do we do now!?" Josh snapped as him, JJ and Jaymi came to stand nearer to me and Olivia. "I don't fucking know! It was you're plan to come this way!" I said, staring at everyone. They sunk back a bit and nodded, their eyes darting to every corner of their vision.
"GEORGE!" Liv screamed, tugging onto my jacket. I snapped round to see 4 zombies coming out of the river, covered in dirt and sewage.
Fuck.
"We're gonna die. We're gonna die." Olivia stuttered, frantically feeling around for my hand as she kept her hands on the zombies that were crawling up the side wall of the Thames.
"Liv, look at me. Look at me!" I hissed, holding her hand tight and pulling up her other hand too. I wrapped both mine around her shaking palms and looked right into her gorgeous, emrald eyes. "You're going to survive this. We all will. I promise." I whispered, kissing her cheek softly, feeling the taste of a salty tear.
She nodded unconvincingly and I tore my eyes away from her and back to the monsters surrounding us. What could I do? What would you do!?
Oh... That's hopeless... We are going to die, we just are. Being closed in by over 20 zombies, no weapons left... It's literally fatal.
Or so I thought.
A sound of tyres skidding along the concreet brought my attention up to an open-top jeep, parking right by our side, JJ having to step back a bit in order to dodge the vehicle.
What!?
"Get in!" A deep, hoarse voice cried from inside the jeep. It was an elderly man (Late 50's) with cloud grey hair and a few visible wrinkles around his eyes. I didn't recognise him. And he didn't recognise me. But I did recognise the truck.
_MANCHESTER CAMP_
Stood out in bold letters at the side of the car. I gulped, but hurried along to get in first, bowing my head slightly in case there were anyone else in the jeep that would recognise me. There wasn't. Just me, now joined by the others in the back of the car.
"HOLD ON!" The elderly man cried from the drivers seat once we had all sat down. I saw him handle the accelerator gear and my hand automatically snapped to the bar to my right.
"GET HOLD OF SOMETHING!" I yelled to the others, gripping onto Olivia's hand as her other gripped the side of the jeep. It was open top, so if this man took a sharp turn, you'd be right over the edge.
The boys paniked but quickly latched onto whatever they could.
The driver set off sharply, launching our bodies forward so everyone automatically lost grip. My hand was ripped out of Olivia's grasp as my top half was thrown out the jeep.
"GEORGE!" Josh yelled, struggling over to me and hauling me in quickly.
"Hold on!" I yelled, once back in the jeep. I'd thank him later, I don't think now's the time for cute talk. I pulled my weight across to the bar holding up the seats on the floor and wrapped my arms tight around that, ducking my head.
I heard moans and groans as the vehicle crashed threw the bodies of those stupid creatures, getting them out of our path.
Suddenly... Silence.
I lifted my head up, and peered over the side of the jeep. We were gliding freely through the deserted streets of London.. We were out and we were alive!
"Lucky escape there, kids." The driver's hoarse voice had smoothen slightly, grey eyes fixed firmly on the empty roads ahead.
"Thank you." Olivia said, pulling herself up to sit back on the seat beside me, rubbing her wrist slightly.
"You're very welcome, Miss. Could have easily been killed back there." He said, his voice pityful.
"Why were you there? Were you following us?" I asked, suddenly aware of how strange this whole situation was.
"No, No, No!" He laughed, "I'm on patrol. Work for the Manchester Survival Camp, I do. We believe that there are others out and about, so I drive around London, keeping an eye out. That's when I found you guys." He explained.
I looked at JJ to see he was already looking at me. The worry in our eyes mirrored each other , The Manchester Camp... I just hope that something has changed there since last time I was there.
"Oh, don't look so worried, boys!!! This is great!" Josh grinned, patting my knee.
I gave him a half smile and nodded before looking out of the side of the jeep again. We were out of the streets now, he was zooming as fast as he could, we'd be in Manchester in a matter of hours...
"Are you alright?" Olivia whispered, giving my hand a quick squeeze and looking at me with fragile green eyes.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I replied, giving her the best smile I could before averting my eyes back to outside.
I couldn't face her and lie again, even if it was to protect her and my friends, it still felt so wrong.
I could be going to my death sentence right now, my friends, apart from JJ, were oblivious to it so they couldn't help.
This is a fight I can't get them involved in.
