Chapter 2:
Clouds

I always had a smile on my face every time I flew. It always made me feel free and not just another prisoner in this messed up world. At this point I didn't care for whoever saw me. I decided to fly to the more rural side of the state I liked going around where there are little people.
I thought everything was going fine until I saw dark black clouds forming in the sky. I stayed in my place and looked up. I've never seen those kind of clouds before and how is it cloudy when the sun was shining brightly just now?
Before I knew it started rumbling and I could sense that it could strike lightning any second, so I flew forward to where I was going but I felt a sudden shock, followed by a burn on my arm. I looked at the clouds and it shot a lightning bolt straight at me. I dodged it and flew for my life.
This is just insanity. There is no way this cloud could be targeting me. How could it anyways? I didn't want to focus on the clouds that are trying to kill me. I focused on finding a place I could take cover. I didn't even know where I was going anymore. Everything seemed too confusing. That's when I felt an electrifying pain that hit my back. The pain was unbearable and my wings began to fail me. I had no choice but to plummet and hope I don't die.
At this point I felt weak and I couldn't stay awake any longer. Darkness was the last thing I remembered.

I woke up and suddenly felt a burning pain on my back I stood up and gasped all the air I could. I sat up and tentatively touched my wings to check how it's condition is right now, and well...it's not in a good condition since I literally fell from 10,000 feet to the ground, but my wings do heal. They just take hours to do it. I looked around and realized I was in a small neighborhood that didn't have a lot of houses but all of this seemed familiar to me. The houses looked like I've somehow been there before, but that's impossible because I've never been to anyone's house other than my own. I decided to walk around to find a place where I could rest because falling has definitely made me weaker.
As I walked I saw two kids sitting together on a sidewalk and they focused on me but they didn't comment on my current state they just stared while drinking the juice off their juice boxes. I couldn't help but look at them too, but I decided it was rude to just stare at those little kids. I feel like I know those kids but yet again it's impossible because I've never spoken to anyone other than myself. I shook the thought off and walked far away from where the kids sat.

After hours passed by. I ran my fingers through my wings again to see how it's doing, and it was doing alright but I still felt too tired to fly away, so I decided to look for food.

I found a hotdog stand that sold their hotdogs at a very cheap and affordable price. It costed like 5 dollars, but it looks tasty enough, and it also came with fries. All I needed to do is ask for one meal from the guy who was selling it "Uhm excuse me can I have a hotdog with fries please" I asked hoping he wouldn't judge me and immediately say no. "Yeah sure" He said. He fried his hotdogs and said "I know who you are" My blood ran cold because he didn't even look at me and he recognized me. "And how do you know me?" I asked gulping in. "You came here when you were younger. Your wings were too small for you back then. Now look at you. You're all grown up now" he said with a deep voice "I came here when I was younger?" I asked not knowing my own past "Yup you liked the smell of my food and you decided to stick around. I saw how helpless you were so I gave it to you for free" he replied "Now I'm gonna give you another one for free" He chuckled. "Oh you don't really have to, I can pay for it" I said as I started blushing "Nah I insist" He said turning around and handing my food. I held it and my stomach grew hungrier thinking about how good the food will taste like, but I'm still confused because how could he remember me? I never met that guy when I was younger.
Or have I? I just feel like none of these memories are hitting me. I don't really remember anything from my childhood until the guy mentioned that he saw me as a kid but that's just crazy.
I decided to forget that I even met that man by going down to the creek I used to go to from time to time. I picked up a stone and played around with it to examine it. Everything seemed to be more familiar over time but what if that were just a hallucination?
I ended up throwing the rock away and made it skip across the water.
Once it stopped skipping, I looked to the sky and saw the stars. I use to dream of outer space, but everyone laughed in my face and they all told me to wake up, snap back to reality, and get a job. That's why I never wanted to be around people. They just don't get it. I heard a voice in my head. That kept screaming for attention, but I ignored it. Despite the temptation of hearing what it has to tell me I tried to resist. "Wake up" It kept telling me over and over again. At this point I was curious so I decided to hear what it had to say "Wake up you need to make money" It said louder.
It began to make me have migraines and I couldn't bare with it. I recognize that voice. That voice that's always in my head.
