We go to land at another beach, and the first thing I do is to help making sure the boat is secure. We drag it up on land, then tie it up at a fallen tree. I look around as I dust the sand off my hands. I notice Lucy starting to wander off, and I look at the bear she was walking towards. I follow her, but slower. I don't want to frighten the bear, he doesn't seem like the type of bear from our Narnia.

"Hello there!" Lucy chimes, but the bear doesn't answer. I stop, resting my hand on the hilt of my sword. Lucy keeps walks closer, seemingly not noticing the difference. "It's all right. We're friends." She explains, the bear still doesn't answer.

"Lucy, stop right there." I call out to her, careful not to raise my voice. This must've have caught the attention of the others.

"Don't move, Your Majesty." Trumpkin exclaims, his voice sound worried all of a sudden, and the bear starts growling. She turns towards us and looks confused at Trumpkin, and at the same time the bear start growling and running towards her.

"Lucy!" I yell, she turns and sees the bear running towards her.

She lets out a high pitch scream, and starts running towards me. I take out my sword, holding it in my hand.

"Stay away from her!" Susan threatens, and aims an arrow towards the bear.

"Come on, Lu!" I yell, my grip on the sword tightens. Lucy almost reaches me, but trips over her own feet. She rolls onto her back, and she crawls backwards.

"Shoot, Susan shoot!" I hear Edmund yell, and Lucy screams again. I throw my sword to the ground, and I run towards her. I drag her to her feet, and I try to make her run, but she's frozen. Lucy hides into me, and she sinks to the ground, dragging me down with her. This means I have no way to protect her, or me. I cover her with my body as the bear stands on two feet, holding her in my arms. It towers over us, and it growls loudly. Lucy screams again, and I hold her tighter. Then I hear a small thud, and then a louder thud. I look up, and I see the bear. Dead on the ground.

I turn and see Susan with her bow at the ready. But, her arrow is still in the bow. Trumpkin stands behind her, with an empty bow in hand. He lowers it, before everyone comes towards us. Peter drags Lucy out of my arms, and into a hug. Edmund pulls me up, and he uses one arm to pull me towards him. He uses his other hand to point his sword at the bear. I try to catch my breath, and look down at the bear.

Susan comes over, too, and we stand around the animal. I wrap my arms around Edmund, and rest my head on his chest. My eyes can't leave the dead animal, as if some magical spell has come over me. Trumpkin walks to the bear, and starts poking it with his bow.

"Thanks." Lucy peeps, and Trumpkin looks over, his face is expressionless. His stare is blank, and he doesn't answer.

"He was wild." Edmund states, cutting off the silence. He lowers his sword, still staring at the bear.

"No, really?" I mumble, only for Edmund to hear. He places his sword into his halter again, wrapping both his arms around me. I wrap my arms around his waist, and I muffle into his chest for a moment.

"I don't think he could talk at all." Peter adds, stroking Lucy's back. She hides into him, still staring at the bear.

"Get treated like a dumb animal long enough, that's what you become." Trumpkin mutters, and the rest of us stay quiet for a moment. I look over at Susan, and we share a confused look. "You might find Narnia a more savage place than you remember." He speaks, and he kneels down besides the bear. Trumpkin starts cutting into it, his face is emotionless. I fully turn and burry my head into Edmund's neck, his free hand strokes up and down my back, and the other is firm at the back of my head. I hear Lucy's sobs, my own breathing, Peter and Susan whispering and Edmunds quick breath. Everyone stands still and for a while no one moves or says anything. Edmund's hand strokes up and down my back, and I fiddle with his shirt on his back.
