The room had been quiet since Cregan had left them so Aemond was the first to break the silence.

"I am sorry about your father, princess. I did try to write to you after it happened but I never received a response." Aemond sympathized, and while it sounded rehearsed Rhaella was happy to her someone say it.

"Thank you Aemond, as shocking it may seem no one has really ever said that to me other than my grandmother. And when my mother promptly remarried his death was quickly forgotten." Rhaella explained, it pained her to speak of such a hard time for herself but she would never stop talking about her father.

His little sea snake would never let people forget.

"Do you remember when we are younger and we would sneak in here, during the dead of night just to spend time with each other?" Aemond asked, his eyes pleading and soft.

"Of course I do, uncle. I looked forward to our time together as children." Rhaella smiled to herself remember how the halls of the keep used to be filled with the sounds of her and Aemonds laughter.

"Whatever changed?" Aemond asked causing Rhaella to sigh.

"Contrary to what you may believe I have no ill will against you, I have simply aged out of the thing that you remember about me." Rhaella said, Aemond slowly nodding his head in response.

"Maybe that isn't such a bad thing. We could make new memories without being under the watchful eye of our parents." Aemond took a step forward taking her hands into his. When she didn't say anything he went on.

"You should know that my feelings for you never wavered. We might have just been kids but a part of me has always longed for you and seeing you in the court yard has only made me want you that much more." Rhaella listened to him before looking up locking eyes with Aemond.

She brought her hands to the sides of his face a leaned in, but Aemond brought his hands back to hers and took a step back.

"My mother wishes to have us wed." He said barley above a whisper, pausing to see Rhaella's reaction but was taken aback when she didn't have one.

"She is talking it over with the Lady Rhaenys and then it will be finalized." Rhaella wasn't sure how to feel on the one hand she was upset that she would have no say in who she married and who she would be spending the rest of her life with. On the other hand there were worst people to be married to than Aemond.

"So we are to be married then what? I stay here with you a squeeze out heir's until I die during childbirth? No, Aemond I can not, I will not. I am the heir of Driftmark and I will later be the queen of the seven kingdoms. I will not let this marriage stand in the way of the things I want." Rhaella voice progressively got louder the longer she spoke. Of course she wanted children but later in the life she didn't want them before she could secure her seat and theirs on the Driftmark throne.

"Rhaella I do not see why this has to be a bad thing. Why not make the most of our situation as a good thing rather than a obstacle and something that gets in the way?" Aemond pleaded.

"I need to think." Rhaella said simply as she left leaving Aemond behind in the library.

Cregan followed Rhaella as she exited the room without saying a word. As always he stood three steps back as Rhaella briskly walked to her grandmother's chambers. Without bothering to knock Rhaella bursted through the door.

"The prince Aemond, truly grandmother. Whatever feelings I had as a child are irrelevant as of now, for you to even consider marriage is-" Rhaella entered the room shouting but quickly stop when she saw who was in the room with her grandmother.

Alicent

"Rhaella." Alicent breathed out.

"Well it's seems that you found us at the perfect time, we were just discussing Aemond and yourself." Rhaenys explained.

"My sweet girl, you once told me you wanted nothing more than to marry Aemond. Whatever changed?" Alicent questioned as she walk closer to the girl she once considered to be her daughter.

"I was child and in truth i no longer know what I want. But I do know that I am not really to be wed or have children." Rhaella explained Alicent's face softened. Rhaella reminded Alicent of herself when she was younger she never wanted to marry Viserys but she did because it was her duty and she had to.

"I am sorry to be the one to tell you this but we do not always know that we love the person we are to marry until you have already married them, dear." Alicent explained hold Rhaella's hands in hers.

"So I don't have a choice?" Rhaella asked looking between Alicent and Rhaenys.

"I'm afraid it has already been decided for you. The only reason you know is because Aemond informed you." Alicent told sadly as Rhaella slipped her hands out of Alicent's.

"I will see you at them meeting later." Rhaella said quietly leaving the room and walking to hers.

"Cregan can you stay with me?" Rhaella asked Cregan as she entered her room.

"Of course." Cregan responded closing the door behind them. Rhaella sat down infront of her mirror and brushed out her hair while Cregan sat on her bad looking uncomfortable.

"Cregan whatever is the matter?" Rhaella giving him her full attention.

"Just was going to tell you something but I can't see it's not a good time." Cregan sighed.

"Please Cregan, whatever is on your mind just tell. You can always speak freely around me." Rhaella urged getting up to sit next to him on her bed.

"It's just that from a very young age I have been told what to do, and that I would inherit Winterfell and I have always wanted more for myself, but you Rhaella, are everything I have always needed. I don't want you simply for your title or land but I want you for you." Cregan confessed leaving Rhaella in shock.

"Cregan I don't know what to say." Rhaella said looking down at her hands.

"Say that you feel the same way. Tell me that you will reject Aemond's proposal and be with me." Cregan placed two hands on both of Rhaella's shoulders forcing her to look at him.

"I just don't know." Rhaella said looking Cregan right in the eye.

"And you don't have to just yet, just tell me you'll consider it." Cregan whispered so only they could hear as if anyone else was in the room.

Rhaella leaned in and kissed him giving him her answer. It started as a slow sweet kiss but quickly became fast pasted. Cregan pushed Rhaella so she could lay back and continued to kiss his way down her neck.
