To say that Rhaella was scared was a understatement. It had been nearly four months since she had slept with her sworn protector and she still hadn't bleed.
There were whispers about the castle that Rhaella had also grown a belly but everyone just assumed that she had slept with Aemond before the wedding and that was why they were to be married. But today was in fact Rhaella's wedding day and although she had grown strong feelings for Aemond it was eating her up inside that she was with child.
A knock sounded at Rhaella's living quarters and she rushed to open it. On the outside stood her grandmother along side Cregan.
"The princess Rhaenys." Cregan announced from her door as if she couldn't see for her self.
"Whatever is the matter my sweet girl?" Rhaenys had practically raised Rhaella so she knew as soon as the door had opened the something was wrong.
"That will be all Cregan, thank you." Rhaenys said walking into Rhaella's room closing the door behind her.
"Grandmother I need to tell you something that must not leave this chamber." Rhaella trembled as she sat on her bed.
"My dear, sweet girl. No matter what it is you may always come to me. Now tell me, what is it?" Rhaenys asked grabbing hold of Rhaella's hands.
"I believe I am with child." Rhaella whispered as if not wanting it to be true.
"Well this is news. It may not be practical to sleep with your betrothed before the wedding but-" Rhaenys started but cut herself off after noticing the look on her granddaughter's face.
"Unless it's not Aemond's child?" Rhaenys asked.
"Grandmother I'm not sure what to do. But I do know that the child is Cregan's and I want to keep it." Rhaella spoke as tears collected in her eyes.
"Rhaella that child will come out with brown hair and eyes. If you truly want to keep this child then I will stand by you and see you through it but you will live a life much like your mother's." Rhaenys explained.
"I want to keep this child."Rhaella said finally, making up her mind.
"Well then I will speak to Alicent but you need to speak with both Aemond and Cregan before the wedding tonight." Rhaenys stood as Rhaella slowly nodded her head.
"I will stand by you my sweet girl, always." Rhaenys put her hands on the sides of Rhaella's face as she spoke before leaving the room and Rhaella alone with her thoughts.
It wasn't much longer before Rhaella's ladies came to have her dressed for the wedding. She wore a blue dress (the one at the top) and a cape much like the one her mother had worn when she got married to her father. With blue on one side and green on the other both with the symbol on each side. And her white hair webbed into braids all along her head.
A knock sounded through out Rhaella's chambers and she knew that she could no longer deny the inevitable. She had sent word for both Aemond and Cregan. And although she didn't want to, she knew she could no longer avoid what was soon to come.
"My love, I do believe it is bad luck for a groom to see his betrothed before the wedding." Aemond joked but his expression quickly changed when Rhaella didn't laugh.
"My princess, whatever is the matter." Cregan ask taking a step towards Rhaella but stopping once she put her hand up.
"I am with child." Rhaella whispered but it was loud enough for both men to hear. Their faces dropped, Cregan assumed that the child was Aemond's but Aemond knew that they didn't want too consummate before their marriage or so he thought.
"This is grand news, you and Aemond will soon have a heir which will surely assist with your claim to the throne." Cregan spoke trying to make himself feel better but Aemond's anger grew.
"The child isn't mine sir Cregan. Which can only lead me to believe that it is yours." Aemond spat out, thinking of how he cursed Rhaella's brothers for being bastards when sure enough she would soon have one of her own.
"Despite how furious I would like to be and know that I should be. Rhaella, my love, if this child is what you want then I will raise it as my own. Just be sure this is truly what you want and I will stand with you just like I always have."Aemond put a comforting hand on the side of Rhaella's face, calming her just like he had countless times before.
"I want to keep it." Rhaella spoke above a whisper, more to convincing herself rather than anyone else.
"I want to raise this child, I want for them to want for nothing as I have. I want the iron throne but I can not get there without the pair of you." Rhaella confidently said.
And so she would, the two men before her would make sure of that
A/n: hey everyone lmao I know I haven't updated in like 6 months but I may or may not be back now. I'm really loving season two of house of dragons and I fear I can't watch an episode without thinking about how I could add Rhaella in so I'm going to do just that. I hope to have at least season one finish before I go back to school in August and I don't want to start adding too much stuff in yet because I'm not sure how it will effect season two because I haven't read the books. Either way I am kinda sorta back
