We all know the story of how Willard Russell met his love Charlotte. He sat down in the café, saw the beautiful waitress and immediately decided she was the one.

Her round face, long red hair and glittery eyes had him under a spell. Well... his son found his love in a very similar way.

Arvin walked into a small bar on the corner of the street, he would always come here after he had taught those no-good bullies that torment his sister, Lenora, a lesson.

It was a way of not getting caught since sometimes they would chase after him, you know, blending in to look like a drunk man leaning over a bar and waiting for drink after drink. It was only for a little while, no longer than ten minutes.

But one day when he did, the most beautiful woman walked up to him and asked, in a very strong southern accent,

"Hi, what can I get for ya?"

Arvin looked up and saw her, she stood there in a waitress uniform, notepad and pen in hand, with a bright smile.

He was about to wave her off, but when he looked into her eyes... he felt a feeling of warmth and nervousness that he has never felt before...

"U-Uh... yeah, I'll have a whisky please."

"Will that be Irish or Scottish?" Her voice was like butter... though she had only spoke two questions, he could listen to it all day.

"...Surprise me."

Saying that made the girl smile and blush slightly, and she finally got a good look at him.

His warm eyes almost didn't match his hardened face, but the more she looked, the softer it seemed to get. But then he noticed the busted face, and her face fell in worry,

"Pardon me for askin' mister, but your face don't look to good. Looks like ya got yourself into some trouble."

"It's alright, you should see the other guy." Arvin tried to be smooth, not liking the thought of her thinking he was the weaker man. But she only hummed in response,

"That's a bold statement comin' from the man with a black eye and a busted lip." She chuckled.

He didn't know what to say to that...

"I'll get you a whisky, maybe then you can tell me a little bit more 'bout what happened." With a smile and wink, she sauntered away to get the drink.

Arvin was completely mesmerized by her, then realised that he was staring and quickly looked down.

It didn't take too long for her to come back with a glass of whisky for him.

"Here ya go."

He said thank you, then look a sip of it.

"Irish." He muttered.

"Well, someone knows their whisky." The woman leaned against the counter.

"This ain't my first one."

"Ya don't look that old, you sure you're allowed to drink?"

"...well, not exactly. But if lyin' is what it takes to get served by a pretty lady like you, then it don't matter to me." He took another swig.

"Smooth talker I see... but ya can't avoid the question I asked you with that charm, I'm afraid."

Arvin wanted to smile at her, but his overprotective thoughts on Lenora took over and his face fell...

"I can't tell you why. It's too... it's just too-"

"Personal?" The boy nodded "Its okay, I get it. Ya don't know me that well."

Arvin then felt guilty, he didn't want to push her away, he wanted to do the opposite... But then she said something that will stick with him for the rest of his life,

"But I guess that gives ya an excuse to come back..."

His eyes lit up and he saw the smile on her face, and he finally formed one as well. Both of their hearts were beating faster and faster the more they looked at each other.

"Then I'll do just that. If that pleases the lady, I'll do it."

They both chuckled and stared at each other for a while again...

"Hey Y/n! Stop makin' googly eyes at the man and get back to work!" A loud male voice said, snapping them out of their lovesick daze.

"S-Sorry, sir!" She yelled back. "I-I'm gonna have to get to work."

"Y/n... that's a beautiful name." Arvin tested the name on his tongue, and it was perfect.

"Thank you... I never got yours."

"Arvin. Arvin Russell."

"Well, Arvin, I'll see ya soon." Y/n said, slight disappointment in her voice. But before she could turn away, Arvin's voice spoke up.

"How soon?" She looked taken aback. "When do you get off?"

"Seven o'clock."

"I'll be here. Seven sharp. I'll pick ya up and we can spend the evenin' together... get to know each other." Y/n smiled ear to ear, now wanting it to be the end of her shift,

"I'll keep and eye on the clock... I'll see ya then Arvin." She remained eye contact until she was talking with another waitress on the other side of the bar.

Arvin glugged down the rest of the whisky, and it was the best tasting yet.

On his way home, Y/n was the only thing on his mind, and he could not shake her away... nor did he want to.

"Arvin! You've been out for ages! You had me and Grandma worried sick, where have you been? Grandma! He's alright!" His sister frantically interrogated him as he walked through the door of his house, but Arvin's mind was still other places. Emma came in, followed by Uncle Earskell,

"Where on earth have you been?!" She cried.

"I was just at the bar down the street! Nothin' happened, I'm fine." Arvin tried to convince his family. "I'm fine... I just got caught up..."

"With what?"

"...I met someone, that's all."

The whole family then forgot about the worry and anger, and it was instantly replaced with one question,

"Was it a girl?" Lenora asked first.

"...yeah it was. Very pretty one too." Arvin said, scratching the back of his neck shyly.

"Well? What she like?" Earskell asked.

"From the short conversation we had, she seems..." Arvin sighed in content "I-I don't know... perfect in every way."

"This is amazing! I'm very happy for you, Arvin." Emma said, giving him a loving kiss to his head. "When are you seeing her next?"

"Seven tonight, as soon as he shift ends... I'm gonna take her out and get to know her."

And that's exactly what he did. Seven on the dot, sound of the bar door opening made Y/n's heart leap in nerves and excitement.

As a smile grew on her face, she hung up her apron, took her coat off the hanger and saw Arvin in front of the door...
