"Y/n! Darlin', you okay in there?" Arvin softly called to his love after knocking on the bathroom door.

"Y-Yeah, I'm alright..." Y/n replied unconvincingly.

"Can I come in?" The click of the lock being undone was heard, and Arvin opened it slowly. Y/n was stood, somehow pacing in the small space they had.

"I'm sorry, Arvin. I don't know what came over me, its like I wasn't talkin'-" She rambled. Whenever she was stressed or angry, her old, harsh accent came out more.

"Whoa, baby, slow down. You're gonna run out of air to breathe." He put his hands on her shoulders in comfort, and she stopped pacing. "What happened back there? I ain't never heard you talk like that before."

"I don't know..." She looked down. But Arvin just lifted her head back up by her chin,

"I know when somethin's on your mind... tell me, please."

"...lately I've just been so on edge. I haven't felt like myself in a few days... its like..." She took a shaky breath "It's like God is trying to tell me somethin' bad is gonna happen soon..."

Arvin looked at the fear in her eyes, knowing that what she was saying she meant... and this scared him. But he didn't show it, because he knew he had to be strong for her. He just kissed her forehead,

"Nothin's gonna happen, darlin'. Me, you, Emma, Uncle Earskell, Lenora... we're all happy. But... if anythin' does happen, I'm gonna be here."

"...Me and you both know Lenora ain't happy." Y/n said. Arvin's eyes closed slowly,

"...I know... I know." He admitted. "But, at this point in time, we're all alright, safe, and happy, y' 'ear?" Y/n nodded. But then she remembered,

"I saw the way you looked at the gun... are ya alright?"

"Yeah I'm alright... it was just a shock, that's all. I know some of the things my daddy did was wrong... but he was still my dad, and I loved him... there was just a lot of emotions goin' through my head at once." Arvin explained.

Then they both just embraced each other for a little bit, enjoying the peace for once. They both sighed in content, with Y/n at school and Arvin busy with... what Arvin does, they don't get time like this often.

"You're right... it's probably just my head gettin' ahead of me. It might be comin' up to that time of the month..." Y/n said.

"Now that..." Arvin pulled away, a playful smile on his face "Is the scariest thing I've heard in a long time." They both laughed at that.

To add the clarity of why Lenora wasn't happy, I'll tell you why. She was constantly picked on by the kids at school, specifically Gene Dinwoodie, Tommy Maston and Orville Buckman.

They were boys that were twice the size of her and complete dick's, they only did it for pleasure, there was no real reason.

Y/n was walking back from the bar, her shift finishing early, and she saw them. Those three boys grabbing Lenora, putting her on her knees and violently shoving a paper bag on her head.

The poor girl looked so helpless. Arvin had told her things they do to her... but seeing it is so much worse than hearing it.

"Hey! Let go of her!" Y/n yelled, running over there and trying to pry them off her.

"Get the hell off, whore!!" One of them said, and just pushed her back, making her stumble. The woman was having none of this, so when he turned his back to her, she kicked him in his crotch, right under his legs.

He cried out and fell to the ground, curling up into a ball. She was going to make a snarky comment, but she then got pushed against the wall by one of the goons.

She smacked her head pretty hard, but the pain was replaced with the boy's hot, thick breath hitting her, making her want to gag,

"Want some too, lady? Well you can have it..." He shoved his hand under her dress, groping her thigh, but before she could fight back, another man entered the picture and started beating the shit out of the guys that were hurting Lenora.

It was Arvin.

The dude that was holding Y/n looked at the commotion, and ran after his friend to help with a very out of control Arvin. Y/n wanted to help, but she started to go dizzy from the bash to the head, and she could only slide down the wall.

"Stop! Please stop!" Lenora cries as she tried to break up the beating of her brother, but she just got pushed back. They eventually stopped, ending with a punch to the nose,

"Sister fucker." One of the boys muttered as they walked away.

"Are you alright? Are you hurt? I'm sorry I didn't come sooner." Arvin wheezed out looking up at Lenora from the ground.

"I'm fine, I'm fine. I should be asking you that... " Lenora stopped and realised that her original saviour was not here... "Where's Y/n?"

"Wha- Y/n?" Arvin was confused, when did his girlfriend get into the conversation? Lenora looked behind her and saw Y/n trying to stand up, but failing.

"Y/n!" She ran over to her and helped her stand up "You didn't have to do that for me."

"Yes I did." She said assertively.

"You can't stand!"

"I don't care, are you okay?"

"I'm fine... but Arvin got beat pretty bad."

Y/n looked to see her boyfriend, with an astonished face, on the ground, holding his stomach and blood dripping from his nose,

"Oh Arvin..." She knelt down next to him, cupping his cheek "Look at the state of you-"

"What the hell are you doin' here?! You could have gotten seriously hurt-"

"I saw it happen on the way back from work-"

"You don't get off work until 5:00 on a Thursday!"

"Let me talk God damnit!" Y/n said to him in frustration, and he shut his mouth "My boss let me off early because it was a slow day, I was walkin' and I saw the whole thing unravel. I couldn't stand by and watch, so I intervened."

"...you could have at least intervened in a more safe way." Arvin said stubbornly. Y/n just rolled her eyes,

"Come on, lets go."

Both girls helped him up from the ground and into the car, but they put him in the passenger. He was about to protest, but Y/n cut him off,

"I'm drivin'. You're in no state to drive. I love you, but just this once, okay?" She gave him a chaste kiss, and shut the door. Arvin just sat there dumbfounded, but then huffed and crossed his arms like a child, making Lenora laugh in the back.

"What ya laughin' at?"

"I've never seen someone have so much dominance over you, Arvin. Its just funny to watch." The girl explained. The boy in the front let a smile creep up on his lips,

"Yeah, well... when you're in love, you'll understand."
