Emma dabbed a cloth on Y/n bruised face, hurting her slightly, but still cooling her hot skin down. At this point, everyone knew about her and her fathers... complicated, relationship.

But, most of Y/n's thoughts knew that she was okay with this, and in reality, should have told them sooner.

"Why didn't you tell us, Y/n?" Lenora asked softly, sitting on the bed next to her. They were in Arvin's room.

"I thought it was all over... didn't think I'd ever see him again. So, therefore, I though it'd be irrelevant."

"Nothin' like this is irrelevant, sweetheart... Lenora, where's Arvin?" Emma asked.

"He's been pacing out in the hall for the past twenty minutes." She said bluntly.

"Well, can you send him in? He needs to comfort his girlfriend." Emma said, dipping the wet rag back into the bowl next to her, and re-applying it to her face.

Lenora went outside to the living room, and saw her brother in the same position when she last saw him. Pacing up and down the length of the room, biting his nail until the whole thing came off,

"Arvin." She called but he still in a daze. "Arvin... Arvin!"

"What?" He finally answered.

"You need to be with Y/n right now, she needs you."

"I'm the last person she wants to see."

"Did she say that?"

"...no. But she doesn't need to." Lenora looked at her brother in pity, but then she snapped into best friend mode,

"Arvin, that is your girlfriend in there. She's at her most weak and venerable, and probably not thinkn' the best of her own self. So she needs ya! More than ever, because she loves ya, more than anyone in this damned world, anyone that sees you two can see that..."

"...You sound just like her." Arvin chuckled. "You're right... You're right, I should be with her... but I'm scared Lenora..."

"Of what?"

"...I-I don't know... everythin'? It's not everyday you see your girlfriend walk through your front door with a busted up face and practically break down in your arms because her Daddy abuses her."

He has a point.

"I know its hard... but who's the one that needs more emotional support, huh?"

"...she is."

And with that, Arvin marched towards the door of his room and opened it. He saw his Grandma kneeling in front of Y/n with a wet cloth,

"I'll do it, Grandma. Thank you." Arvin said, taking the cloth. Emma smiled softly at him,

"Well done." She kissed both of them on the forehead, and left the room, closing the door behind them. Picking up the wet rag, the boy started lightly dabbing her bruises,

"Please say somethin'..." Y/n's weak voice said.

"...what do you want me to say?"

"Anythin'."

Arvin thought for a moment...

"You think I should get a hair cut?"

Y/n scoffed and playfully rolled her eyes. Arvin laughed as well,

"Well? Answer the question."

"...No, you look perfect, my love."

"So do you."

"What? Even with bruises from her deranged Daddy?"

"Even with bruises from her deranged Father." He finished. He looked her in the eye and saw that somehow has a strong figure... "How do you do it?"
