The funeral for Lenora Laferty was an unexpected one to say the least. But the sad part, was the fact that they were never going to know she wasn't a suicide... it was just an accident. Arvin, Y/n, Earskell and Emma were staring at the coffin in front of them, but no tears came. They had none left.

"Oh Lord..." Emma started to sob "There's some things I can't understand... but you take her into your arms..." She could barely get her words out. Her hand touched the top of the box with her dead daughter inside.

Arvin gave stone hard looks to his uncle Earskell every few minutes. He fully blamed this on him, he didn't care how wrong it was. He gave him specific instructions to watch her and keep an eye, but he didn't. And now his sister was dead. He hadn't felt anger like this since he beat up old Gene Dinwoodie. If that.

Y/n bent down and helped Emma off the floor, her shaking form making her tremble as well. This family has been through so much already, but it was never enough.

"Come on. Let's get you guys home." Y/n said, her voice gruff from the sobbing.

And that was that. Everyone went home. There was an emptiness in the air, no doubt because they were missing someone, but it was bigger and louder than they thought. Emma went straight to bed, but no sleeping. Just crying. It was all she could do.

Arvin had to go to work, much to his dismay. All he wanted to do was the same, but his new job didn't care,

"Let me drive you, darlin'." Y/n offered.

"No it's alright. You stay here. I'll be fine."

"Arvin, let me help you-"

"I don't need help."

"Yes you do! Your sister just died-"

"YOU THINK I DON'T KNOW THAT?" He yelled, making Y/n flinch. "I have nobody now. My parents. Dead. My sister. Dead... I-I don't know what to do." Tears pricked in his eyes.

"...I know it may seem like that. But you've got me. You've got your grandma, your uncle Earskell... you're not alone. You never have been." Y/n went over to him and cupped his face in her hands. "Are you sure you're alright to drive?"

"...Yeah. I'll be fine." He replied, sniffing and wiping a stray tear that ran down his cheek. Y/n nodded, and gave him a quick kiss goodbye.

On the way to work, Y/n's words rolled around his mind. It kept him sane for the most part of the day. He saw his work friends, had a normal day, as expected. Everyone was giving him sympathetic looks every now and again, practically the whole town knew about Lenora...

But as his day was ending, as he got out of the truck he was driven in, he saw a policeman walk over to him,

"I need to speak with you, Arvin." He said.

"About what?"

"It's uh... its about Lenora." He stuttered, knowing this is a sensitive subject.

"What about her?" Arvin asked after taking a deep breath.

"I came by here instead of home so nothin's... put on your grandmother."

"'Put on?' What do you mean?"

"Well," The officer took his hat off "Ol' Dudley, on the Corner's..."

"I ain't never heard of no Dudley." Arvin spoke defensively.

"Well, he's a drunk... but he ain't no lier." He paused. "Did you know Lenora was carrying a baby?"

Even though Y/n had figured it out... hearing it from an officer made it sound way worse. So it was true. Arvin's face still stayed in the same expression,
