(Y/N)'s POV
"Morning, (Y/N)! Good luck at school and don't forget to go to Charlie's after school. He said he won't keep you there for longer than an hour and a half max." Rachel carried a box of silverware to the kitchen.
"Okay!" I went out the door and off on my route to school. Laura and Rodney both caught sight of me as I passed their houses and decided to join me.
"Hey! You are going to be the new kid!" Rodney smirked as he jogged across the street to me. "Do you think you look picture perfect? The newspaper club will try to take a picture and article of you on sight." He playfully bumped my shoulder.
"Leave them alone, Rodney." She rolled her eyes and locked the gate to her house.
"Or what?" Rodney teased putting his arm around her.
"I could tell (Y/N) about when you transferred here last year. You made a big fool out of yourself on the first day. Do you want them to know?" She raised a brow at him.
"No, they don't need to know about that!" He took his arm off of her and scratched the back of his head. His face is now no longer pale and now resembles a tomato.
The red-faced boy shook his head, "Point is the newspaper club are like vultures. They struggle to find stuff to write about. They'll take what they can get. New student equals article. That's it." He got completely serious.
"Or were you too anxious, and didn't say no to an article? I said no, and it didn't happen. No permission, no article." Laura added, opening her phone. Her attention on the sidewalk ahead of us was nonexistent at this point, she occasionally bumped into Rodney or accidentally stepped into the grassy lawn of a neighbor.
Rodney simply scoffed and took her arm so he could guide her along. "See you later! Just go to the front office and they'll give you your schedule." Rodney continued to guide Laura along to wherever place they were going to on school grounds. His hold shifted to her hand along the way.
They left near the front gates of the school. I walked through the middle of the parking lot. It was a clear path lined with vehicles and people conversing near each others' vehicles.
Behind, a car drove into a spot right behind me. It sounded off as it parked, a sound that showed its age.
"Nice ride," an unfamiliar voice behind me called to the driver I assume.
"Thanks," someone said plainly, they sounded familiar. I looked over my shoulder to see Bella. "You go here?" She recognized me and sped up to catch up.
"Yep, first day,"
"You're Isabella Swan and (Y/N) (L/N), right?" A boy with his hair swept to the side quickly joined us on the other side of Bella. "I'm Eric, the eyes and ears of this school. Do you two need anything? Tour guide? Lunch date? Shoulder to cry on?"
"No, thanks. I'm the suffer-in-silence type." Bella answered, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"I don't think I need anything, either. Thanks, though." I took a glance at Eric.
"Okay," he gave me a nod. "Suffer-in-silence, I like it. It would be good for the paper. What do you think of the front page?" He seemed to get more and more excited as he went.
"N-no! Please, don't! You can't do that!" Bella stammered in her panic. She stopped in her tracks to face Eric.
"Chill, chill! No feature, okay?" Eric lifted his hands to either side of his head in surrender.
Bella relaxed with a sigh and continued walking. We continued with her. Eric switched sides so now I was in the middle.
"How about you?" Eric looked at me, hopeful for acceptance.
"Sure," I gave a curt nod. It would be during the gym period. I would get hit with a volleyball by Bella if I went. I would have to go to the nurse because it would send me to the floor.
"Alright, meet me in room 32, before lunch." Eric left for a vehicle in the parking lot next to Bella's truck.
"You really want them to write a paper about you?" Bella's face twisted in confusion.
"Yeah, I don't have to go to gym class and exercise." I smiled proudly at Bella.
"Okay," Bella seemed unconvinced still but took it.
"What do you have first?" I turn to her.
She checked her schedule then back forward, "Biology."
"Alright, we have the same first class." I tucked my schedule into my bag. A bell rang and on cue, the halls flooded with students from the entrance.
Bella and I drifted apart trying to find the classroom. I mostly went along with the sea of the student body until I managed to see Bella enter the classroom. I tried to slowly ease my way to the room with a few "excuse me's" and sorry's" shared.
Once we escaped the crowded halls, we entered the biology classroom. The room had a wall almost only windows. The room thrived on natural lighting instead of electrical.
"(Y/N)! Bella! Come here," He beckoned us to his desk with a wave of his hand. We stepped closer and stopped in front of a tall fan next to his desk. Bella's hair blew in front of her face as a result.
"Here's your textbooks and Bella, you can sit next to Molly. Molly, raise your hand!" Mr. Molina pointed to the girl who raised her hand behind the first table against the window-clad wall.
A boy sat at the table, right in front of Bella and Molly's table. He has dark brown hair that contrasts his pale skin. He had a concentrated stare at one of us.
He slapped a hand over his mouth with one hand and with the other he gripped the table.
