a Wish for Friendship

(Y/N)'s POV

Rain pitter-pattered onto the pavement outside of school at the end of the day. Weeds crawled up from the cracks for the nice rain coming down. The sun is covered up by the thick grey clouds over the sky like a blanket.

Crowds of students pushed past each other and got to their cars in a frenzy to get home. Some weren't in as much of a hurry, crowding cars to talk to each other.

My eyes caught onto the Cullens. Their cars looked so expensive and hardly used. It's like they rolled out of the car dealership and came here with them.

Jasper had his arm wrapped around Alice, who was about a head shorter than him. Her hand rested on his back as he led the duo to their car. He looked back at me over his shoulder.

Our eyes made contact for a brief moment, and even Alice looked over. I had been caught looking over at them.

My head snapped away to focus back on my path home. My eyes glued onto watching my feet moving, kicking rocks.

Grass danced about in the wind. Rain dripped against my face from the wind picking up the rain. Cars speed out of the school in their rush to get home, going over puddles.

Water splashed and soaked my shoes in cold, muddy water. I could only gasp at the impact. Forks is a pretty good, quiet town, but this is definitely something that I won't miss.

It's a lot of rain, and I had to go to and from school without a car or anything to take me. We do have a car, but Rachel's work started earlier and ended later.

So it would have to be this way unless I took the bus.  A bus would be easier, but Rachel worried about the possibility of an accident. I found it hard to imagine an accident like that happening in such a quiet town like this.

It's all pretty routine here, everything is mundane and washed in a bluish-grey hue. My dreams have been as plain as a sheet of blank paper.

Alice's POV

A grin decorated my face as I breezed through our front door with Jasper in tow. His arm wrapped in my arms, pulling him into my room. His eyebrow raised at my actions, but a smirk appeared on his face.

He must be wondering what could be going on in my mind. I knew he could feel the sheer excitement that crashed over like ocean waves. So once the door to our room closed, I told him the news.

"I suspect that someone at our school has visions. Isn't that fun, Jasper?" My eyes studied the face of the man I loved and knew so well.

"Oh, really? I suppose that's good to have someone like you, right?" He sat down in a chair in our room, his eyes on me.

"Yes, it is. I think we could be great friends, don't you?" I slowly came up to him, holding his equally cold hand in mine. My happiness almost couldn't be contained. "Do you want to know how I know?"

"How do you know, Alice?" His eyes followed our clasped hands as I swung his arm gently to and fro like a swing set.

"Because I saw it in a vision. And then I saw it in action for the real deal. There's no making it up, mistake, or the future changing. It happened." My words are as passionate as the day that I met him.

"I believe. I did from the start, ma'am." He grinned at the teasing name he called me. I smiled along with him. "Who is it?"

"(Y/N), they are in my English class. I've had a vision of them before."

"The one about meeting Edward?"

"Yes," I nodded along. My foot gently tapped on the floor. "I would like to be friends with them. You could be, too."

"Now, I don't know about that. It might not be the best idea to do that." His grin dampened down.

"Why not, Jasper?" My head tilted to the side like a new angle would help me see how he felt better.

"Well, it will be hard not to want to eat them all the time. Don't you feel that?" He slowly stood up, standing up and looking into my eyes as if searching for the answer himself.

"It won't happen. We'll be fine. We won't hurt them, Jasper." I looked right back into his eyes with promise.

"How do you know that for sure?" He held onto that worry like a safety blanket.

He didn't want to hurt anyone, and neither did I. But we need to come out of our comfort zone sometimes like we did every day at school. People were all around with blood that tempted us. I knew well that would be especially hard for him.

"I just know, Jasper. You won't hurt them, and I won't either." My thumb rubbed against his as if to soothe him.

"We could go hunt, make it less likely that we would act out in a way that we wouldn't want to," I whispered. "It'll be okay."

"Okay, we can try," Jasper whispered right back to me. His grin returned when he saw the joy in my face.

"Yes, you'll love them, I bet. We'll all be good friends together, I can tell." I smiled.

I knew he could feel my emotions. My excitement knew no bounds. I pulled him close in my arms. "They'll be great, I know. You'll love them. And you won't hurt a single hair on their head, I promise." I looked into his eyes.

"I'll give it a shot." He nodded along with his own words.

"Should we hunt?" I looked into his dark-colored eyes. It's clear he needed to hunt, and I did too.

"Mhm," He took my hand, and we went out together into the forest.
