(Y/N)'s POV

My feet slowly brought me to the mall in town. Rodney and Laura were there already waiting for me with the human gang. The clouds hide the sun. Grey clouds swarming like angry bees in the sky.

"(Y/N)! Hey, what's up?" Rodney rushed over to my side like an over-excited dog. His blonde curls bounced with his loud, quick steps.

Laura followed in a much calmer pace than him. She gave me a smile as she came up to me. It has been a good while since I've seen them outside of a school setting. "Hey, (Y/N)," She stopped by my side.

"Hey, you two. I'm doing great. You guys?" I looked at the duo on either side of me and at the rest of the group in between.

"Good, I haven't been up to much besides hanging out with Laura," Rodney told me. His eyes flicked over to Laura like he was a moth and she was a flame.

"Yep, same here." Laura looked over at him, too. It's clear to me that they liked each other.

We all got into the mall together in a group full of chatter. Mike wrapped his arm around me after Eric teased him. I froze up in surprise like someone splashed cold water onto me.

"They're your partner? Pfft." He jokingly pulled me closer with his mocking rebuttal to Eric. I didn't know how to react to him doing this at first.

"Ugh, leave them alone, Mike." Jessica side-eyed Mike as she told him to stop. She acted exhausted, like he does this all the time.

Mike listened to her and pulled his arm off of me. She rolled her eyes. "It's like we're in first grade all over again." She glances at Angela again.

"Where should we go first?" My eyes darted around to see everything around me in the new space. Color posters and storefronts lined the walls. People solo and with friends or family crowded the large building in small crowds scattered around.

"Maybe the food court? Get some lunch?" Rodney suggested as he walked up to my side.

"Okay, sure." I nodded my head along with their words as the group went toward the food court. We sat down at tables that reminded me of the ones at our school's cafeteria.

"So, anything new with you, (Y/N)?" Laura set her food down next to me at the table. Her bracelets jingled on her wrists as she moved like personal windchimes.

"Well, the living room is done in the house. The only thing that made it an awkward experience is how the Cullens were over to help."

"The Cullens?" Everyone at the table got radio silent at the news in shock. I would have to admit that it's hard to believe that that's how I spent my weekend, but it is.

"Are you serious? Like, did you somehow become buddies with them or something?" Jessica leaned in with furrowed brows.

"I wouldn't say we're friends now or anything." I paused, trying to string some words together in my mind of how to explain it all, but I then got interrupted.

"Wait, so they came to your house, and you're not friends or something?" Mike tried to wrap his head around how I could have the most mysterious group of teens in my house.

"I had nothing to do with them showing up. Rachel had come in contact with Esme, and she wanted to help us move in." I tried to explain as my head kept turning to each of them like my head was on a swivel.

"Who's Esme?" Rodney joined the questioning party.

"Mrs. Cullen, their mom," I told him.

"Oh, okay." Rodney nodded along likehe was a bobblehead. "I bet it's because of those cookies you made them." He nudged me teasingly.

"Well, yeah, it is actually. She wanted to return the favor."

"She sounds so nice. I wish I could meet her." Jessica added in. "You would too, right?" She grinned at Angela by her side.

Rodney and Laura shared looks with each other after getting all this new information. It's like they were trying to talk to each other with their eyes.

"So, what is Edward like?" Jessica grinned and leaned in. If it were possible, she would have hearts in her eyes. She acted like he was a hit pop singer from a boy band that she would have posters of all over her room.

"He's alright, I guess. I mean, we talked a little bit, but not much." I shrugged my shoulders after telling her that.

"Really? He's not that much different from when he's in school or something?" Jessica rested her head on her palm.

"Yeah, not really that much different; sorry, Jess." I could tell that shewast disappointed, but she quickly disguised it afterward. Her attention flicked back to Angela like our conversation never happened.

My phone's chime drew my attention away from everybody around me. "Oh, I'm sorry, guys. I guess, I gotta go. Rachel wants me to get back to the house now." I looked back up from my phone.

"Oh, that's okay. Maybe another time?" Laura tilted her head to the side as she asked me.

"Yeah, definitely." I got up and started my stroll home. Streetlights had turned on at the crosswalks. It illuminated the concrete like spotlights on a stage.

No one had been around besides cars speeding past me on the road beside of me. My eyes stayed in my lane, watching my feet on the aged and cracked crosswalk. Weeds grew in the lines in between like strong-welled green fighters claiming their ground.

Not long after, I found myself on my porch step. My keys jingled as it came up to the lock before opening the door. "I'm home, Rachel!" I called for her when I got in.

When I looked up, I didn't expect to see Esme sitting on the couch with them. She looked at me from over her shoulder. "Oh, hey, (Y/N). I was just talking to your mom." She gave me that familiar smile of hers.

"It's good to see you. I'll get going now. I don't want to keep you two up for too long. Take care, you two." She stood to her feet and elegently passed me and went out the door, not leaving a single trace that she's been here beyond her words.
