One week later
Morgan
"Dang, yall said we were going to church. I didn't know we were supposed to be matching too" I laughed.
My entire family was wearing black.
Everyone including my parents ignored me.
"Hmm tough crowd."
"Hi Journee" I sang.
"Hey auntie" she smiled, "are you sad like everyone else?"
Ava and I still weren't on good terms but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to not speak to my niece.
"Sad? Why would I be sad?" She asked me.
"Because this is a funnel roll."
"You mean funeral" I chuckled, "but no I'm not sad honey, I didn't even know there was a funeral today."
"How come you didn't know? it's yours" she laughed.
"Mine? Girl, what are you talking about?"
"Momma, did you hear what she said?" I asked my mom but she didn't look my way.
"Who are you talking to Journee?" Momma asked.
"Nobody grandma!"
"Daddy" I called to my dad but he also ignored me.
"They can't hear you" Journee told me.
Everyone entered the church except Boogie and Journee.
Boogie walked up to me and looked me up and down.
"Auntie, why'd you have to leave us?" Boogie cried, "who's going to be my best friend now?"
"I didn't leave you. I'm right here Boog."
I walked in the church and sat in the pew in the back.
"She will be dearly missed by all of us here but especially missed by her parents, siblings and her nieces and nephews. Let's all stand for the viewing of the body" the Pastor spoke.
I saw Ava crying hysterically and it broke my heart.
"I didn't get a chance to tell her I was sorry!" She yelled.
The ushers were sending people up to the front row by row but I couldn't wait. I needed to see who this service was for.
I walked up and looked in the casket and it was me.
My heart began to race uncontrollably because I couldn't believe that I was seeing what I was seeing.
"I'm right here y'all! It's just a big misunderstanding, I'm alive!" I yelled but no one paid me any mind.
Journee walked up to me with tears in her eyes. "It's time to say goodbye auntie. I'll miss you but you have to go now."
"But I'm here! I'm right here!" I yelled.
"Morgan please get up" Malik cried.
"Come on Morgan, get up!" Daddy yelled.
"I'm here!" I yelled again, "I'm alive."
"I'm alive!" I yelled before falling to my knees and closing my eyes out of fear.
