JIMIN

Jimin was trying not to cry
as he told Ari about what
had happened.

The car ride, Jungkook's revelation, the encounter
with hobi.

And to his surprise, she
listened intently, not
interrupting with any of
her usual caustic wit.

"So, I just don't know what
to do." he shrugged, sniffling a little as he finished the story.

She looked thoughtful for
a moment.

"Did you say anything else
to Jungkook when he told
you he might be moving
here?" she finally asked.

He shook his head.

"No, not really."

"I was so surprised and
then hobi showed up."

"I just told Jungkook I had to
go and I got out of the car."

"But why? Didn't you want to
talk about it at all? You were obviously upset. Why not
tell hobi to leave instead?"

"I don't know." He said,
feeling a little defensive.

Ari hadn't come right out and said she thought he'd handled things badly but she hadn't exactly given him a ringing endorsement, either.

And anyway, wasn't she supposed to be on his side?

"Hobi was being an ass and
I could tell that Jungkook was starting to get pissed at him."

"I didn't want them to
fight..." He trailed off as she waited with a raised eyebrow.

"And plus, was I just
supposed to jump into Jungkook's arms?"

"Live happily ever after?"

"What if it turns out badly?"

"What if he just wants to
use me like hobi did? "

"You know I suck at picking boyfriends."

"It definitely hasn't been your strong suit." she agreed.

"But you clearly like this guy."

"You were glowing when you talked about him the other
day and he likes you too."

"Shit, Jimin, do you really
think he would've gone to
all the trouble to rent a car
and take you out if he just
wanted some ass? Really?"

"Maybe." he said quietly,
unsure how he should feel.

On one hand, what she was saying made sense.

But he'd been so shocked,
so confused and he couldn't pretend like those feelings had
Not happened or weren't valid.

"And then what about the
job thing?" he asked
changing the subject.

"Two out of the three places I applied already rejected me."

"This whole day has been
fucked, I've messed things
up with Jungkook."

"The places where I wanted
to work don't want me."

"I'm going to be stuck,
single, in my shitty job
forever."

Ari gave him a hard look
then shook her head.

"Honey, I love you and I'm
going to say this to you as
your closest friend.

"Get it together."

He blinked.

That hadn't been the
response he was expecting.
