She was destined to become the First Duchess of Bedford Territory after its creation in 2165, by Lord John Carey, Duke of Bedford Territory.

Lady Caroline Matilda Carey is the first born child and daughter of Lord Richard William Carey, Duke of Bedford Territory and she is the great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Lord Patrick William Howard through the matrilineal line of his only granddaughter, Lady Sophia Charlotte Howard, the only daughter of Lord Frederick William Howard, and Lady Jeanette Virginia Beaufort.

Lady Caroline Matilda was born on her father's 32nd birthday in 2282, at Beltane Manor and her birth was celebrated with the sounds of church bells and trumpets throughout Bedford Territory.

Lord Richard William Carey looks back at the time when his princess was born with tears in his eyes, "Where did all the time go?" Lord Richard William Carey asks Lady Karissa who is now his wife.

"She grew up and we must let her go, now you sound like your second cousin." Lady Karissa tells Lord Richard William Carey.

"You knew one day she would marry and start her own family." Lady Karissa tells him.

"Why not later. I am not ready to let her go." Lord Richard William tells Lady Karissa.

"That is because you are a sentimental old fool." Lady Karissa tells him a laugh.

"I only have two children whereas my second cousin has six children." Lord Richard William states.

"I know how many children your second cousin has between Lady Theresa and me." Lady Karissa explains.

"Lord Benjamin Lawrence Carey and Lady Caroline Matilda will ensure that your great-great-great-grandfather, Lord John Carey will continue here on Star Base 12." Lady Karissa tells him.

"His line will continue as Lord Patrick William Howard's line well into the next generations." Lady Karissa tells Lord Richard William.

"You want grandchildren, don't you ? I have three grandchildren through Lady Elizabeth and her sister Lady Samhain." Lady Karissa tells him.

"The marriage of our daughter to Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley's son, Lord Kevin Thomas Riley will unite our two families." Lady Karissa tells him.

"Kevin lost his entire family to a damn monster on Talos Four." Lady Karissa tells Lord Richard William Carey.

"Lord Anthony and Lady Alexandrina have put off having their first child." Lady Karissa tells him.

"Lord Anthony Christopher is very intelligent and I know that they will have their children all in good time." Lord Richard William states.

"He does have more sense than his damn father." Lady Karissa says with a laugh, "but this is not about Lord Anthony Christopher, but Lady Caroline Matilda."

"Lord Anthony Christopher wanted to see both Lt Kevin Thomas Riley and me happy and he did with matching making Lady Caroline Matilda and Lord Kevin Thomas Riley The Second and it is a perfect match." Lady Karissa explains.
