Here, the only light that can be found are the auras outlining both Sonic and Amy who take in their surroundings with immense uncertainty. For as far as the eye can see is absolute nothingness. Just a purple void which, along with the net-like grids above the hedgehogs' upright quills and below their shining shoes, seem to extend to infinity. There's not even so much as a surface for either of them to stand on.
Floating idly in the wild are strange, large purple cubes, drifting along the empty vacuum without much purpose nor explanation. Everything is as silent as the not-so-different realm of outer space. Unlike the utter darkness Sonic maneuvered through to reach his friends, this place seems special. And somehow, even more unnerving.
"Where... are we?" Amy finally asks.
Before Sonic can answer, an encompassing voice does so.
"We're nowhere."
Ahead, a small red shockwave disperses, signifying the presence of something big. Retaking his previous size of fourteen meters in height during his and Sonic's earlier encounter, Infinite stands in the two hedgehogs' path. The brightness of his large ruby casts a staggering red light, illuminating the darkness of the void. A light Sonic and Amy shield away from.
This is not good. Sonic realizes. I'm starting to feel like my normal self. At any moment, this power is going to fade completely.
"I love that look on your face, hedgehog..." Infinite says. "Such overwhelming fear... I can almost taste it. Soon, you'll be left defenseless and at my mercy."
"What did you do?!" Amy snaps.
"Create a new reality. One made just for you. Since your friend was left unimpressed by the extent of my simulations, I've conceived a more preferable burying ground. A material world where nothing exists. A space between the ruby's reality and ours. To be more specific- its junkyard. Once your super forms disappear, you'll be forced to spend an eternity here until your very essence is broken and forgotten. A life sentence that will last forever. You will die by nothing... surrounded by nothing. I can't imagine a more fitting end for you hopeless mortals."
"If we're going to act..."
Sonic and Amy are startled by the golden, lemon-cream-colored hedgehog who has joined them at their right.
"...we need to do so now," Shadow finishes.
After a second of hesitation, Sonic and Amy nod in agreement. All three hedgehogs stare ahead at their towering enemy.
"Ready when you guys are!" Amy yells.
"Let's give him hell," Shadow says.
"Here we..." Sonic begins. "...GO!"
Joined together for one last charge, the super hedgehogs take off in Infinite's direction. Not bothering to show much concern, the large Jackal soars backward through the empty space at an alarming speed.
"He's counting on us wasting our remaining energy!" Amy audibly observes.
"He'll have to keep dreaming!" Sonic replies. "Hey, Ames, mind giving me a boost?"
"Anything you need!"
Keeping his current speed, Sonic curls into a spinning, golden ball. One Amy picks up, and after a moment to calculate its trajectory, launches straight at the giant ruby pulsating on Infinite's chest. The two collide faster than anyone expected. Sonic rebounds off the cracked gem and rejoins his friends while Infinite grabs it in complete shock.
"UGH! I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU!"
"Nice throw, Amy," Shadow compliments. "Hopefully I can manage the same."
