Getting in, like usual, was easy. Surrounded by E-123's Omega's big titanium arms, all Shadow and Rouge had to do were simply hold on as the robot carefully descended into the ocean of zombified Mobians below.
It was unlike anything either of them have ever seen. Cattle without a purpose. From their position, the entirety of Scrapyard looked as if it were alive. Hundreds of heads, with no space to move. No intelligence to reason. No reason to live.
Scattered throughout the sea of heads are well-abandoned neighborhoods, businesses, skyscrapers, and most of all- casinos. A celebrated part of what used to be known as Springyard. Its new name is mighty fitting.
This... is sick. Shadow thought, appalled at the sight.
He's heard of Scrapyard before. All of the horror stories from first-hand survivors who will never know how truly lucky they are. And of course, the rumors that came with them. But to actually see it... the hedgehog couldn't tear his eyes away.
Omega and his two comrades now stand on top of the massive stone walls surrounding the quarantined city. The secured perimeter originated as a fence. Then an armed fence. Until finally, construction on a more guaranteed way of safety went underway. A direct order from the president of Station Square himself.
None of the infectees seem to notice either of the emerald hunters overlooking them.
The faster we get this over with... the better. Rouge thinks, trying to bring her full attention to the emerald radar.
Thankfully, the emerald is close enough to be detected, not requiring a blind source. Its precise location remains unknown, but its direction is shown to be at a Northwest angle from where the group stands.
"I got its position," Rouge notifies her team. "Follow me. I suggest we stick to the rooftops. None of us want to end up down there."
"RISK Of INFECTION WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY NINETY-TWO-POINT-NINE-NINE-NINE PERCENT. OF COURSE, FOR ME, I STAND A ZERO-POINT-ZERO-ZERO-ZERO-ZE-"
"We get it, Omega, can we just get this over with already?" Rouge asks, annoyed.
Without any further delay, Rouge spreads her wings which carry her through the air. Besides her, E-123 Omega flies nearby, with Shadow being carried by the robot's big arms. He continues looking over the many innocent civilians forever trapped by the Doctor's cruel spell.
"Why isn't there a cure?!" he wonders. "These people need help! Why would he do this?! This is wrong!"
"Shadow, keep it down!" Rouge whispers.
Her words don't reach Shadow's ears. All sound has gone mute. The only thing he can do is watch. Watch the large army of victims turned ZomBots roam around. Among them, various children.
"This world is beyond wicked! It's not worth destroying... it's already dead."
"Shadow?"
The angered hedgehog removes his arms from E-123 Omega, free-falling into the infected city below.
"SHADOW!" Rouge screams, shocked.
Even Omega is shocked at such an unpredictable move. Neither of them even has the chance to catch Shadow before he lands in the middle of the street- a ball of pure chaos energy releasing from his body on impact. The move forcefully knocks back all surrounding ZomBots in a three-yard radius.
Little can be done about the numerous ZomBots who are now alarmed at the hedgehog's presence. Seeing a potential victim after years of isolation isn't even enough to bring any emotion out of the mentally enslaved Mobians. They just process the now exposed target as they would any other and begin approaching as one. After all, it's in their programming.
"THIS WORLD IS RETCHED!" Shadow barks, a yellow chaos aura surrounding his right hand. "CHAOS... BLAST!!!"
