Chapter 7: Promise

My mother always told me..

"Astra, remember it's ok to be scared sometimes pero your fear is the first step of doing something big."

Which means, "Take the risk or lose the chance". Her confidence never faltered no matter what she faced which is why she was such a risk taker. She stood by it so much that she even got it tattooed.

When I was younger, she'd always be by my side encouraging me to do anything I was ever afraid to do. From learning how to swim, to riding a bike, to standing up to others in middle school. She was my number one supporter beside my dad.

I always thought that if she saw how scared I was now she'd be so disappointed in me even if she told me that being scared is normal. I have the fate of the world in my hands and I'm absolutely terrified. If she was here, she'd never be scared of these responsibilities, thats just who my mother was.

Why can't I be like her? Be fearless? Be the role model of confidence?

Is this why I was stalling? Stalling going after Humarise? Because I'm still afraid?

Why am I so afraid mom? Why can't I be like you?

"You must really like her Todo" Astraea began packing a bag for herself containing her wigs, spare outfits, gadgets, and a few weapons. "You've been texting Aurora non stop every since we left the party."

"I suppose so, we got along pretty well despite only knowing each other for a few hours." Todoroki shrugged.

"No the other kind of like. Romantically I mean." Astraea chuckled.

"Hm, I've never had romantic feelings for anyone I just met before so I don't know what it's like".

"Well I'm not saying that it's love at first sight cause that's just ridiculous but feelings like that make you blush at the sight of them, think they're extremely beautiful or handsome, get along with them really quickly you know?"

"I think you're beautiful and I got along with you quickly but I'm not attracted to you". Lord this boy is clueless.

"ENOUGH TALKING ABOUT THIS SAPPY SHIT, LETS GO!" Bakugo yelled from across the house. "WE HAVE PLACES TO BE YA DAMN EXTRAS!"

She wished this last moment of real peace she had lasted longer. In 48 hours, her entire life will either change for better or worse and to be honest, she was no where near ready.

"Hurry up you damn slow pokes." Bakugo looked at the purple haired girl next to him and her face seemed off. She had her usual small smile on her face but it didn't look real. Her lips were slightly quivering, her eyes were faced forward and not focused, and her whole body was trembling a bit.

She flinched as he patted his hand on her back. Something was definitely wrong. "You're not scared are you Nebula?"

"Me scared? Hilarious". She rolled her eyes, roughly slapping his shoulder. "And don't call me that firecracker".

"HUH?! WHAT DID YOU CALL ME YOU PURPLED HAIRED LOSER?!" Bakugo screamed as explosions began to ignite in his hands. "SAY THAT AGAIN AN-"

"You'll blast me all the way to hell I know" Astraea waved her hand dismissively as she walked out the door

"It's a long trip so you better be prepared ok?"
