The Hybe Empire was the biggest land on Earth. Every temple among this land was devoted to the doctrines of Balance. The most devoted priests were gifted with unique powers which served the maintain of the doctrines across the Empire. The biggest and most powerful temple of the country was in Enha, the capital, even towering above the Empress' castle.
On the 30th of November, after a seemingly random and dreadful year of incessant rain and poor crops, a prophecy was heard in every temple of the Empire:
"On the night of the new year, two prophets will appear. One within the temple of the capital, where he will live and grow to become a Saint. The other in the streets, where he will grow strength and hatred against his peers, destined to be a tyrant. One is humankind's salvation, the other its doom."
The worshippers of balance were quite taken aback by such a prophecy. If one of these two prophets was destined to win over the other, it meant the end of their beliefs. Because of this, the prophecy provoked an uproar among the people who split between the supporters of the Saint, the supporters of the Tyrant, and the supporters of Balance.
In the few days separating the prophecy's announcement and the appearance of the prophets, the temple lost a lot of its power, to the delight of the Empress. And on the day before New Year, the Empress declared she would find and house the Tyrant, to ensure they would never complete their destiny, rallying all supporters to her cause.
So the night of the New Year, instead of a night of confrontation and riot, turned out to be a night of celebration.
A perfect night for a saint to be born.
A perfect night for the shadows to silently birth a demon.
