While Jungwon was away, Jay had come up with his own method to conquer the heart of the people.

Given his curse, Jay only had one tool: Fear, and he abused it. He realized that using violence the right way was drawing people to him. They were easily impressed by his prowess and would either immediately admire him, fear him, or most of the time, both.

He would use it to resolve basically anything and also to have a little fun. He knew deep down that seeing him do so would sadden Jungwon, but the Saint did tell him to use any means possible.

He had become the star of the capital. For some, he was a hero, for the others, he was the devil. Overall, everyone wanted to get on his good side.

The ironic part was that the Empress would rejoice at all his successes, seeing Jay's influence as her own. What's more was that her niece was sadly getting very attached to Jay, when his mind was clearly elsewhere...

"What time is it?"

Jungwon was waking up, emerging from under Jay's covers.

"It's almost noon. Do you have to leave already?"

"Yeah...I've been here for one day too long."

Jay went into his usual sad silence, until they left the room, Jungwon wearing a hood over his eyes. Seeing him pout, Jungwon tried to lift up his mood,

"By the way, Jay. I need you in the West. The nobles there are too loyal to the Empress. I need a more intense strategy with them. Will you come?"

Jay nodded, still sad.

They reached the small servants door that Jungwon used to come in and out.

To try to raise Jay's mood again, right before they had to part, Jungwon took his head in his hands and kissed him.

Jay had no choice but to be happy now. In a sigh, he wrapped his arms around Jungwon,
when suddenly,

"WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE???!!" howled a familiar voice.

They both turned to face Augustus, standing in front of them, his finger pointing aggressively at them.

"D-divine Saint! What are you doing here!?? And, with...this!"

Jay hurried to come grab him by his collar and to put a hand on his mouth.

"Call me whatever you want dummy prophet, but keep it down or I'll rip your tongue out."

Jay had never menaced Augustus that way, which made it very effective. He let go of him while Jungwon was joining them.

"Hi, Augustus. Sorry we surprised you. I'd appreciate it if you could keep this a secret. Especially from the Temple."

Augustus was staring at Jungwon, panting. He glanced at Jay for a second, before replying,

"I'll do anything you want Divine Saint, since the Temple is crumbling anyway, thanks to you. But let me ask you again: what are you doing here??"

"As you probably understood, I came to see our Imperial Crown Knight."

"B- but you can't. Not with him!"

Jay sent him a death glare.

"That's why I asked you to keep it a secret."

"But he is engaged to my cousin! He can't be doing this kind of things with other people! Even if it's with you!"

Hearing these words, Jungwon froze.

He slowly turned towards Jay.

The latter stayed silent.

"Please Augustus, turn back and leave us, as if you never saw that, ok?"

Frightened by the sudden coldness in Jungwon's voice, Augustus obeyed immediately.

Jungwon could finally address Jay freely,

"What did I just hear?"

His tone was freezing and his voice was trembling.

"We're just engaged. I have no intention of marrying her. You said I needed to use all means possible."

"So, you decided to get engaged??"

"I'm telling you, it means nothing."

"Oh, but it does mean something! Engagements and marriages are protected by the gods! Do you want to fight the gods as well?!"

"Yes!" cut Jay. Jungwon jumped.
"You think I care about some passive gods who never cared about me? Have I never told you?"
He took a step towards Jungwon.
"You are my god Jungwon. You are the only one I pray to and the only one I ask for protection. I'll fight the gods any day, so again, this engagement means nothing."

Jungwon stared at Jay in awe. He still wasn't used to Jay declarations that never failed to make him weak.

Finally, he sighed, smiled, and replied,

"Right answer."
Before kissing Jay again.
"You better be true to your words. I have to leave now. I'll see you soon."

There, he disappeared, again.

"We'll see each other in the West," breathed Jay for himself.
