LXX. Percy's letter

In the Gryffindor common room, the trio sit together, around them people talk, joke, laugh and study. Hermione sighs and shuts her book with a loud snap

Hermione: I don't know how we'll ever going to pass our OWLs in the Defense against the Dark arts without any practice! That Umbridge woman is so.... [She looks at Annie and Ron with new found determination] We've got to do something about her

"Hermione sweetie there more important matters than the OWLs" declared a frustrated Marlene

"I second that" nodded Sirius

"Although I'm curious about what they plan on doing to the vile woman" Dorcas suggested

"They should trick into believing there's valuable good under the thumping willow and lock her in there" Suggested a Gryffindor

"Or turn do her a favor and turn her into a pink fat cat" laughed Fabian

"I like that" Gideon cheered

Ron: [As he and Annie exchange a glance] Yeah, well poison should do the trick

"That took a dark turn" laughed Rabastan

"I like the way you think my mate" nodded Barty impressed

"Poison, make it pink" added Evan, at this point everyone was laughing

"Not bad Weasley, not bad" smirked Draco

Hermione: [Annoyed] Don't be silly, Ron. Not her, I meant her teaching we're not going to learn anything in that class

Annie: [Nodding] Yeah that's true

Hermione: Anyway, I thought we should do it ourselves

Ron: Do what?

Hermione: Defense against the dark arts, we'd teach ourselves

Annie: [Skeptical] I don't know Hermione....

"It does sound like a brilliant idea" nodded Narcissa

"Hermione you truly are brilliant, now that's what I'm talking about" cheered Rabastan and Sirius

"If Umbridge isn't teaching them they may as well do it themselves, they would need it"

Before anyone could answer a tapping sound is heard from outside, the three turn and Ron is first to speak

Ron: Hermes?

Standing up, he goes for the window and opens it. The owl deposits a letter in Ron's hands, turns and vanishes out of the window again. The last Gryffindor heads to bed leaving the common room deserted except for the trio. Sitting back Ron opens the letter and shifts in his seat

Ron: [Surprised and somehow hopeful] It's from Percy!

"The brother that sided with Fudge?" frowned James

"Yeah" nodded Ron "He was a git"

"Ronald Weasley don not speak of such about your older brother" Molly warned

"But it's true"

"I swear to Merlin I will...." She began only to be cooed and calmed down by her husband

Annie: [Smiling as Hermione nods encouragingly] Read it

Ron: "Dear Ron, congratulation on becoming a Prefect. For some time I thought you would take the 'Fred and George' route instead of following in my footsteps, you can imagine my relief it is not the case" [Frowning he stops reading]
