You let go of the rope and caught the edge of the balcony, pulling yourself further up onto the platform.
"That was close.." You mumbled to yourself.
You got up to your feet and tried to look into the dark room. Your eyes had to get used to the lack of light again. You walked into the room and immediately tripped. Apparently there was an elevation of the floor that you hadn't noticed in the dark."Ugh.. Eclipse? Hey I didn't mean to scare you or anything.. you didn't know right? I don't blame you, so come out okay? We can talk."
You waited until your eyes adjusted to the dark, which didn't take too long as there wasn't too much light before, and looked around the room.
He wasn't there. Or he was, but you couldn't see him. You could hear him though. You could hear soft sniffles, and it came from behind something as it was muffled.
"Eclipse, where are you..? I can hear you. I know you're here. I just want to help.""You can't help us." A soft mumble came from a bit of a hollow place. It came from your left, and the only thing you saw there was a closet to which a chair was leaning.
You carefully put the chair back on all it's legs and moved the closet.
There was a hole in the wall that seemed to lead to another room. You went through it, and you found an adorable room, with painted walls, drawings which you guessed were made by children, pictures and cute decorations.
It was like their own bedroom. There was even a soft light. In the corner of the room was a little pastel blue tent, decorated with yellow stars. Usually something for children to play with, but you saw their shadow in it.
You crouched down in front of it and carefully lifted the thin fabric of the entrance to peek inside.
They sat there, face buried in their arms."Can I come in?"
You asked as you spoke in a soft tone.
He shrugged slightly, but didn't give you much of a reaction. He just stayed in the same position.
You got in the tiny tent and sat down next to him."I like your room. It's pretty."
He moved his head up but looked away from you.
"I'm sorry I got angry. You didn't know, right? About it's function?"He shook his head.
"Could you maybe tell me why you broke the mask? Did it remind you of something?"
He slowly turned his head back to you, but he didn't look at you. You could see he's been crying again.
You went through your bag to get your wet shirt again. The same as you used before. You put some more water in it and gently cleaned his face again.
He seemed to be a little embarrassed now, but you didn't mention it. As you finished and placed your shirt back, he started talking."There used to be someone. I don't know her, but she used that mask. She threatened us. She threatened the same person who died here. I'm.."
He looked at his arms, which were still hugging his knees.
"I'm sorry I ruined your chances to get back. I didn't mean to."You showed him a little smile.
"It's okay. We'll find another way somehow.""No it's not okay. What if there is no way? I've never been out of the daycare for the time it's been closed.."
"You didn't know, and you had bad memories of it. I understand. I'm sure we'll find a way. There's always a way. And I'm not out of supplies yet, I still have enough food and water for.. at least a day and a half. It'll be okay, I promise."
"How can you promise? You don't know what you're talking about!"
He covered his face with his hand. You stayed quiet for a bit.
"No, I don't. But I can't lose hope, and I'm not gonna be mad at you, so here we are. I don't blame you, I'm not mad at you, so stop thinking about it now. Okay? Everything will be fine, I promise.""What if you die here again? But now because of me.. no, again because of me. It was always my fault. I should've chased you away back then. I should've chased you away when you came back. You shouldn't be here. It's my fault."
He buried his face into his arms again. You felt confused.
Again?
"Are you talking about your friend? Hey, I'm sure it wasn't your fault..""Partner."
"Partner..? Oh, you were.. oh.. I'm sorry... you must miss them a lot.."
You frowned and leaned back against the wall. You felt bad for them. They lost someone so precious to them, and they didn't even have anyone to comfort them.."Yeah.. but now you're back, and it's not even been a day and you're already doomed. You shouldn't be here. You shouldn't be with us."
"Me? But I.. I've never been here before..? Are you confused?"
He shook his head and looked at you, straight into your eyes. You felt a little flustered as he had avoided your gaze so much, and now he was looking at you, with such a gentle gaze."You don't remember."
"Remember what?"
"You made everything better. The way they treated us. Our bond. Our room. Our existence. Everything. But you died, and it was all my fault. Sun was too soft for you. He'd never scare you. But I.. I should've chased you away when you were still able to escape.. who knows if this is just my imagination coming to torture us.. or maybe even your ghost. But he doesn't deserve this. He misses you too. It hurts, yet I don't want you to go."
You were completely clueless about his story, and looked at him confused.
"I'm torturing you..? I'm.. I'm sorry, but I think you're confused.. I haven't met you before. I haven't been here before. And I'm certainly not a ghost.. I'm sorry you're hurting, I have no intention to hurt you..""No, I'm not confused Y/N. You don't remember."
