You climbed back out of the room. Luckily the rope had gotten stuck on the balcony so it was still close enough for you to grab it. You wrapped it around your waist and slowly lowered yourself down to the structure you had climbed on before. You decided to give them some space to think and look for clues to help them in the meantime. When they were still chasing you, you were hiding behind a desk, and as this was a place for children, you thought it'd be the only logical place for important information, would it still be intact.
Meanwhile you could think about their proposal. They did seem sweet, and you wanted to help them. They made it clear they had the same idea about the situation, which felt like a good start to be on the same line. Maybe this could work, and if it didn't then.. it didn't have to be different. You could still meet them and try to help, even if you weren't the person they'd been missing. It couldn't hurt to try just getting to know them better.
You still weren't sure what to believe though. Could it be true? It all sounded so unbelievable, yet it didn't feel like a wrong idea. It was definitely true that you didn't feel strange here. It was like somewhere in the back of your mind you could see this place as it used to be. Everything clean, neat and in place.Even the satisfaction you felt when you first saw their face. Of course you were a little scared back then, but you no longer felt the need to search for something. It's like you already found it, here, with them. Maybe their theory was right.. still, if that were true, you wished you could actually remember instead of feeling nostalgic about it.
You arrived back at the desk and began to look through all the drawers which contained a lot of paperwork.
Most of the papers were files of the children who used to come here, or complaints from the parents about Sun, and mostly Moon. He was known for scaring the kids back then, so it wasn't much of a surprise to find those here. Between all the papers, you found a maintenance book. It's supposed to be filled in every month, for check-ups, to see if everything's going well with them, if they need some oil for their joints, or even just a system check, but as you flipped through the pages, you noticed that after the first three months, some pages were left empty, with just the date of intended maintenance on it, and after 7, there hadn't been a documentation anymore. You scoffed, knowing this meant they had just been left to rot. They even still left the children with them. It could've been really dangerous for the children if anything happened to their system.. Maybe that's why they shut Moon down back then.
You flipped through the pages towards the end of the book, trying to find instructions on what to do in which situation, but it seemed to only be filled with these check-up lists. As you got to the end, you could finally see some pages filled in by the week.
'Responsible: Y/N. Note: This place is lucky not to have been sued yet for any accidents with the children. For future daycare assistants, weekly check-up's are a must!! We're talking about the safety of the children. Moon has been re-activated. I secured his system. Take better care of them, they have feelings too.'So they really did intend to change things for the better. From that page you could see they'd been checking up on them weekly, until the pages were blank again. As you looked at the date, it must've been after the place shut down and they were abandoned. You sighed. Even at the end of the book there were no instructions. Still, you were happy to see someone had cared enough for them to be happy and safe.
You decided to keep the book with you and placed it in your bag.
You looked through the drawers some more, until you found another paper book. 'Daycare attendant, Manual.' You skipped the introductions of what they were and how they worked, and went straight to the page titled: 'Maintenance.'
As you read through it, you saw all kinds of options like, replacing or fixing a part, system maintenance, wires, how to work with oil, etcetera.
You placed it in your bag as well. Now all you needed was for Moon to show you where the spare parts were kept. It would be a challenge to talk to him about it though, he was so defensive about it..
